OH and for those that don't know "The Duffle Blog" is an Onion News type website specifically themed for humorous US military articles.

Thx for the link. Funny, indeed. I like browsing such fun-news sites, distracts a bit from boring reality...

Some people don't live in the real world!!

I love the quote '......against the tiny island nation,'.

Sneering is unbecoming from a victor, even after many years have passed.
The American generation who actually fought in WWII were far more magnanimous to their conquered foe, considering what they went through.

It's a joke site, like the Onion.

Did you ever see "Stripes"? Lighten up Francis!

why is '......against the tiny island nation,' a sneer?

Japan is an island, and it IS relatively small , although possibly not by European standards.
It is less than 1.5 times larger than New Zealand and I doubt you would find it offensive if NZ was described as a "tiny Island nation".

Funny. [:D] I particularly like the line about stuffing 'throwing stars into his duffel'. Yeah-that's a wonder weapon alright.

LoBaron -> RE: OT: The reason why a certain movie needs to be banned (12/8/2012 3:38:04 PM)

I would not call it a sneer, just a gross misconception.

Japan is currently the 10th largest country in terms of total population.
In 1940 the total population of Japan was about 73 million, roughly 3.5 million more than the Third Reich, 30 million more than Italy.

In case you call Japan of 1940 tiny, I prefer not to know what youŽd call Austria. "Au...WHAT?" probably? [:D]

Because by no measure can you reasonably call Japan a tiny island nation.... Same for New Zealand (notwithstanding her much smaller population).
