In ANW 3.11.1 beta with Hud4 1.1 (Nov 24 2012):

My aircraft (specifically an F-14A) won't engage with its internal gun. I looked in the database editor and it looks like the aircraft needs to be below 3000m (which seems silly, but whatever) and the weapon arc is FWD down with a range of 8nm. So I manually moved my F-14 into a trail position above a Tu-16 (F-14 at 1400m, Tu-16 at 800m) and 4nmi apart. I then tried both the attack and air op buttons to make it attack. In both cases I get "unable to intercept any of the select targets....". The F-14 is out of missiles of course. Why won't it use the guns? Is there something else I need to do to make it work?

Never met your issue. Did you get the message "Do you want to order the unit to get closer"?

I think I fixed it. I set the "Aircraft Primary AAW Gun" and "Aircraft Primary AS Gun" weapon flags in the weapon entry. The change seems to have taken effect in my saved game without have to rebuild units (although the game complains about the signature not matching when loading).

Yes. After I say yes it would the RTB with the message about being unable to intercept.

I also noticed the 27mm Mauser(ata:3) was missing it too (Tornado GR.1). The ata:2 version had the AAW flag set, but not the AS flag.
