Thanks Morganfour - I will.

To scratch my Air War itch, I actually went slumming to Panzer Campaigns Sea Lion and Order of Battle but this is like eating Steak-ums with freezer burn when you want New York Strip.

Is this War Of The Skies a Slitherine / Matrix production?

And will there be an option for Battle of Britain?

I know the feeling well :)

No, this is an independent production headed by myself.

Yes the BOB will be included at a later date along with other areas of operation such as Africa once the main game is released.

Its still in alpha stage at the moment but 85% of the mechanics are completed and its mostly a case of improving the UI, models and FX.

The current website is down for a re-design but should be back up next month so I'll post more info closer to the time.

Good Luck then Morgan - you can count me as a potential customer when the time comes.

A lot of you have probably read Erik's announcement by now and have assumed game development is dead. This is not quite the case yet. We are actively testing Harley's last patch to see if it works. Once we are convinced that it does not cause any in game conflicts, computer crashes, etc. it will be released. Be patient, you all have done a fine job of waiting this long, so a little longer won't hurt will it?[:)]

How is this project going? I've been working on editing map locations to better match geographical reality and I'm wondering if this "last patch" changes any of the data?

Also will it be compatible with the injected .dll (alter ego) mod that fixed the replay graphics, turn-around bug, and added the lockscreen function (not to mention an in-game message reader...)?

Thanks!

warshipbuilder -> RE: Patch News - I work to deadlines (7/17/2016 1:02:20 AM)

"How is this project going?"

Slowly.

"I've been working on editing map locations to better match geographical reality and I'm wondering if this "last patch" changes any of the data?"

No map work being done, interested in volunteering? PM me.

"Also will it be compatible with the injected .dll (alter ego) mod that fixed the replay graphics"

No. Up to Harley, if he has time to fix any of this. The main focus of the group is as stated, to see if this patch is good to publish. There will be OOB adjustments and aircraft data tweaking. Also considering adding the Spitfire XVI to the mix and aircraft load out options.

"turn-around bug"
Testing so far shows it appears to be fixed.

"added the lockscreen function"
Again, up to Harley.

"(not to mention an in-game message reader...)"
No. Creeper's is compatible with the game, and again a time thing.

looking forward to this patch

verdugo94 -> RE: Patch News - I work to deadlines (7/22/2016 6:56:42 PM)

Hello and sorry for late answer, with windowed resolution there is no problem at all.

Only thing is that you see everything smaller. Not alt+tab problem in fonts

Thanks for that feedback Verdugo. Aging eyes may not work too well with that.

I am tempted to give it a try but perhaps not at this pricing. Winter and Matrix Winter sale are coming ... eventually

Maybe onto that list it will go. Good to know that it does not warp the graphics or fonts though.

Arkham -> RE: Patch News - I work to deadlines (7/23/2016 4:28:45 PM)

What about fixing some of the game play issues, such as the issues with ground combat and bombing oil being ineffective as a tactic?

See previous answers about limited time. That will probably have to wait until there is a completely new game at some vague point in the future.

THAT I would like fixed. AE's mod for the current version of the game takes care of that. Unfortunately it does not work with the patch.

pz501 -> RE: Patch News - I work to deadlines (1/12/2017 8:06:46 PM)

Just wondering if there is anything new to report about this patch project? Or has it been abandoned because of tech and time issues?

warshipbuilder -> RE: Patch News - I work to deadlines (1/13/2017 6:20:34 PM)

We have had to get a new programmer, so we are just waiting for him to familiarize himself with the game so we can move forward.

joey -> RE: Patch News - I work to deadlines (1/13/2017 8:38:18 PM)

Really? I am impressed!

pz501 -> RE: Patch News - I work to deadlines (1/14/2017 12:16:33 AM)

Thanks for the update! I'm glad to see this is still alive. I have confidence you'll eventually get this done, and BTR will finally have the update it's needed for years.

Zorch -> RE: Patch News - I work to deadlines (1/14/2017 11:54:10 AM)

I would like to see version 2.0 of this game...

CaptCarnage -> RE: Patch News - I work to deadlines (1/14/2017 10:09:54 PM)

War in the West has quite a good Air War incorporated. Has all the things I wish BOTR would have had (including shorter turn resolution times).
It really shouldn't be necessary to spend a minimum of 20 minutes to see your turn play out.

I have also WITW (and I'm loving it), but they are different wargames, different scales, for air war fans the game is EDtBtR, it's focused on air war, a more detailed scale (of time over all), therefore turn resolution is so long, but this is a quality for air wargaming fans like me, viewing a turn resolution on WITW takes little time, but it doesn't give satisfaction as EDtBtR does.

MOrganfour -> RE: Patch News - I work to deadlines (2/15/2017 10:27:21 AM)

Just to let you guys know, War Of The Skies will be out on early access this summer via steam.

zakblood -> RE: Patch News - I work to deadlines (2/15/2017 10:37:25 AM)

no info about it as yet on steam, so any other news or sites to list, link or post?

MOrganfour -> RE: Patch News - I work to deadlines (2/15/2017 10:53:03 AM)

The current website rebuild has taken longer than expected (I only have one pair of hands) but here are some screenshots from the latest version...

And one last one for the "shoot down" events. The animations will be improved over time.

Kursk1943 -> RE: Patch News - I work to deadlines (2/15/2017 1:02:54 PM)

Great! Looks like an entirely new game![:)]

MOrganfour -> RE: Patch News - I work to deadlines (2/16/2017 11:10:25 AM)

Thanks Peter and yes, it is an entirely new game built from the ground up using the Unity 5 engine and was successfully migrated to Unity 5.5 this month.

I'm pushing to get the website finished and the facebook page live but the art work is taking me a lot longer than expected.

pz501 -> RE: Patch News - I work to deadlines (4/11/2017 12:58:37 PM)

About 10 months now since the possibility of a new patch for BTR/BoB was first mentioned, 3 months since I last inquired, and also 3 months since the last contact with anybody involved with the patch.

Once again, is it still alive or has it been abandoned? No need for a detailed report or statement, just let us know how things are going every now and then.

The reason I say this is because I don't want to watch this project become something like TOAW IV or Combined Arms, where year after year goes by with no apparent progress, and very little communication from the designers and developers.

Communications does not appear to be a Slitherine/Matrix strong suit....too bad since the majority of people can handle the truth if something is making no headway, or has been cancelled. Some news even if just to say we're still here every 1-3 months or so is better than nothing at all.

warshipbuilder -> RE: Patch News - I work to deadlines (4/11/2017 7:25:43 PM)

Still very much alive. We had to sort out some software issues and should be moving forward again in a few weeks.

Odin -> RE: Patch News - I work to deadlines (4/27/2017 11:42:07 AM)

The handover to the new programmer is complete and we are making good progress migrating the developer tools. Once we can successfully compile the code we can start fixing things.
