ORIGINAL: MrRoadrunner I am quite sure that if the other party had come to power and tried to continue to make the States and the people "smaller" while the government grew to it's current (and future further) enormity, those petitions would have come up. It's not who's in power. You need to get that straight. It's what that person does to overreach their power that counts. Taking away from States Rights, taking from the people, and growing a massive country busting debt is something that must be pushed back against. I don't care what party they are. And, if it is "crying" or "pouting" that you want to use to belittle an opposing argument, I will pout and cry all I want to get America back on track. Even if it is one pout or one cry at a time. Heck, I have over a hundred years of progressive pollution to overcome. And, I have to do it one soul at a time. Lord knows what our last few generations of school kids have been taught. And, if you want to cry for the right reasons, cry for the thousand plus children who were killed the same day the school children in Conn. were killed. There is more than one evil nut job out there. RR I am a fiscal conservative, and neither of the parties cover that. Republicans are social conservative, and fiscally conservative in name only, and only when the Dems are in power. They hand out corporate welfare (e.g. defense) while the Dems prefer social program handouts. The only guy that comes close is Ron Paul, and he seems a bit crazy at times. I remember during one debate in 2008 that he was the only one that could answer the question correctly about whether as the President if he would declare war over some scenario. As far as these petitions go, I am just not buying it. If what you say is true, then these petitions should have existed long before the election. As you say, "It's not who's in power", and that is exactly right, the other guy wasn't going to solve any of the problems you mention. These petitions should have started with the passing of the patriot act, then really gone crazy with the litany of abuses of power that followed and the ballooning of the government. Nothing you can say will sway my opinion on the phoniness and childishness of these petitions due to the timing. Because if the petitions were truly about states rights issues, these petitions would have existed long before the day after the election. {my emphasis added above} The White House online petitioning system was not launched until September 22, 2011; therefore any such online petitions in response to the Patriot Act or other actions that took place prior to its launch could not have occurred. They could not have existed "long before" the day after the election as the process was launched less than 60 days before Election Day.
