There's an interesting discussion of the situation in Malaya immediately before the Japanese attack at http://www.britain-at-war.org.uk/WW2/Brigadier_EW_Goodman/html/malaya.htm It's by the CRA (Commander, Royal Artillery) of 9 Indian Division, but he talks about the entire force in theatre, and the logistical issues imposed by the terrain and road net, with, obviously, a particular focus on the artillery side of things. Should be useful background for anyone trying to add detail to a Malaya scenario.
