BigJoe417 -> Scenario Ratings/Briefings (12/30/2002 1:33:49 PM)

Hi Guys,

I wish there were a rating posted for the difficulty level of the scenarios. I've been playing scen 19 as my first scenario. So I decide to try a shorter one to see what the difference is and start the Operation Cartwheel scen. Not sure of the number. Anyway, compared to the full campaign scen 19, this shorter one is a total slugfest! More planes and ships and ground units than I've seen in the whole other full campaign to date! Its taken me a few hours just to make all my first turn deployments! Plus there are new units I havnt seen before. Like when would I use an LSI instead of a LST? Another question that comes to mind is how come the game starts with most airbases lacking enough air support units and a few with way more than they need? In the full campaign I dont get PT boats till late in 42 and then just a few. In this one I have dozens and I really dont know what to do with them? I imagine if they go up against any real IJN surface group they'd get slaughtered. So what I was thinking is how great it would be if some people wrote reviews/briefings on each scenario. Short descriptions of units wherever possible and notes on how they have found the best use for them. Strategic notes on key bases to protect perhaps. Maybe this is just a dream. But I'm a gamer... we dream.

Coral Sea is probably the best "training" scenario. It's short, limited forces. The long ones are all higher "difficulty" since you have a long haul and you have to work with all forms of forces. Any of the later scenarios (ie, later in the year) will be more difficult, too, as the number of forces available will be higher.
