It looks to me like X-Windows is sending a message to the client application which isn't being properly translated into a GDI event, maybe putting some garbage in an event data structure. Can you try to disable all the bells & whistles of your desktop manager and see if you get the same crash? I mean, Compiz, fancy window transition animations, etc. quote:

I'll try to enable GDI mode in Wine. Maybe it can't work in OpenGL mode.
