Operational? I'd prob go for something by Glantz, though it is very dry reading. I've yet to read a book that would really teach me operational warfare in a wargame. The best way to learn is read AAR's of said game. Books are great for immersion purposes with regards to wargames and can help to some degree maybe. Rogo well that could be one of hundreds mate to be honest. Some great reads are below War letters to a Wife by Rowland Fielding For Love and Courage by E W Hermon (might be the book you mean) Somewhere in France by L W Nott (Or this one) War Diary Of The Master Of Belhaven 1914-1918 by Ralph G. A. Hamilton
