artuitus_slith -> Interesting game, is there a demo? (4/6/2013 5:36:23 PM)

Is there a demo available for this game? I have bought a game from matrix in the past (armada xxxx- forget the exact 'date') and it wouldn't run. I don't want to chance the same thing again, so is there a playable demo to try? Not to mention I'm used to 4x games in turn-based mode, not real time and would like to try it out and see if I like it.

There is no demo as far as I know, however as Erik wrote in this post if Matrix tech support won't be able to make the game run on your PC they'll give you a full refund.

Hope this helps.

Theluin is correct, there is no demo for Distant Worlds. [:'(]

really wish there was one, would help me make the decision to buy or not. Guess I'll think it over for a bit before deciding.

Thanks for the responses

There are several YouTube videos that might help you decide if this game is for you. There are official ones from Codeforce and many other "Lets Play..." from users. By the way, don't be intimidated by the real time game play. You can slow the speed down or speed it up at any time. You can pause the game at any time by opening menu interface screens or hitting the spacebar. I was concerned about this myself in the beginning but now I can stop and think about things at any time.

I would also recommend watching the Lets Plays for DWs. Also when the next expansion comes out bundles, deals and most likely price reductions so holding off may be in your best interest.
