moonraker65 -> RE: DO-17 (5/3/2013 10:14:06 PM)

Pretty rare beast these days I think. Should be interesting if they can get it out and maybe do some restoration

iirc it'll be the only one. I'm not sure about the restoration though, after so long in the sea a restoration would likely involve building a new aeroplane. They aren't too sure how she'll react when she's pulled out either so they got some specially designed storage ready (at Cosford I think). Maybe they'll display her like the Halifax at Hendon in 'as found/recovered' condition.

Which one... the top one, or the bottom one? [:'(]

Encircled -> RE: DO-17 (5/3/2013 11:19:47 PM)

Dornier Do-17

Full story on the BBC here

tocaff -> RE: DO-17 (5/3/2013 11:26:40 PM)

Obviously the bottom one. [;)]

Well, the bottom one appears to be in great shape, so it must be the top one. [:'(]

[&:] I don't understand - they both look the same shape to me [&:]

geofflambert -> RE: DO-17 (5/4/2013 3:06:23 AM)

I'm joking about syntax, as DivePac was, what is the subject of the sentence and the object, etc.. I'm sure they were both in excellent shape.

I should note that DivePac nailed me, and my response was lame at best.

I know - I was doing the same thing........

geofflambert -> RE: DO-17 (5/4/2013 3:22:56 AM)

When I was a kid, I was better than most at diagramming sentences, but I hated it just as much as all the other kids. I still managed to avoid learning many things, I just have a rule, if it sounds good, go with it. For instance, I don't know what makes a verb transitive different than any other verb, plus if someone starts talking about Latin declensions, I get really irritated. Amo, amat, amas, yada yade yado. I beg of all of you, puhleese do not explain these things to me, you will do me irreparable harm.

Now, by doing the same thing, did you mean joking or giving a lame response?

I love it when you talk dirty

geofflambert -> RE: DO-17 (5/4/2013 3:33:20 AM)

I'm afraid I may be forced to bean you with a Rosetta Stone.

warspite1

A lame jokey response to be precise.

geofflambert -> RE: DO-17 (5/4/2013 3:38:56 AM)

Sorry to have gone over your head, whoosh. Do you have some sort of cloaking device? I keep looking at who is in the forum and "warspite 1" never appears.

geofflambert -> RE: DO-17 (5/4/2013 3:40:13 AM)

Oops, I just saw it, it just appeared. You must have had to lower your shields in order to fire another zinger.

warspite1

I do not need a cloaking device - I am a content free zone [:D]

Yes, I must confess - firing my Zinger as much as I can is a hobby of mine

geofflambert -> RE: DO-17 (5/4/2013 3:49:29 AM)

"Content free zone"? Do you mean like Dan Quayle? I have always admired that man as a role model.

That's perfectly ok, so long as you have a proper target. Otherwise it's a mortal sin.

warspite1

Yes exactly - but with even less intelligence - and an inability to master complexity. Oh well - I'll just go play with my Zinger.

That's enough, I can't take anymore. I'm sorry, my sensitivities are just so delicate.

Well you are from Gorn so that is understandable.

Goodnight.

DivePac88 -> RE: DO-17 (5/4/2013 4:11:19 AM)

Stop It you Two!

Now kiss and make-up. [sm=00001746.gif]

geofflambert -> RE: DO-17 (5/4/2013 4:22:06 AM)

Oh, I couldn't sleep, I was somehow aroused. DivePac, "kiss and make up"? Have you taken a look at my lips?

Come to think of it, how would you accomplish that with that beak of yours? I bet if you make to do that with someone, you, when they are most vulnerable, pluck their eyeballs out!

geofflambert -> RE: DO-17 (5/4/2013 4:44:29 AM)

Well, Napoleon abandons the field, apparently ceding the victory to Welly, but then Welly, the sleepy head retires as well. Suddenly, Gneisenau arrives seeking to collect all the booty for himself. Whaddaya know? Napoleon returns, refusing the flank. Gneisenau ruffles his feathers and departs, history is changed forever. Oh, what a flank anulus I am.

From the local news last night the body is actually in poor shape being aluminium, the sea water has played havoc with it. The boffins have decided the best way to remove the salt is to wash it in citric acid (lemon juice) and this they are going to do by placing it in a poly tent and spraying for a year.
