Sekmeth -> "Could Not Start This Game" (5/10/2013 4:03:58 PM)

Have been playing the game for about a week now, and have had no issues.

I have the main game and the two expansions.

[EDIT]: Running the latest beta patch 1...20

Yesterday I installed "[REL 0.9.2] Star Trek - The Picard Era" (tried to post a link but was not allowed). Installed the full conversion as well as the the Mod.

Played the first game without any issues, but when I decided to start a new game I get this error "Could Not Start This Game"

Tried changing around the settings back to what I had in the first game, but nothing works. Tried reinstalling the mod, and switching it of and on. Also tried removing the "defaultOption" file. BUt no effect.

Anyone able to help me out a bit? [:)]

PS: There should be a warning that you are not able to post links, your post will now be lost. Or save the post when you choose to go back to remove the link [&:]

Edit: Links seem to be working just fine here...

Yes, just not allowed before 7 days after your 10th post. [:)]
Was just minorly annoyed that I lost my original post [:)]

Nothing major =)

Did you try starting a game with out shutting down and re-launching. I get this error if I played a game for a while and then try to start a new one. If I shut down and re-start, I am fine. You did not load the mod over the orginal files if not then you can delete the mod folder and set the game back to it's default.

I believe I tried restarting the game without shutting it down, but I have tried several times since then. And the game has been shut down in between my attempts.

I am able to load any saved games without any issues, but not able to start a new one. I tried disabling the mod, and removing the total conversion files (and restoring the backed up folders which the conversion had removed/altered) but no effect. Looks like I hafto reinstall the game again =/

At this point I would indeed try an uninstall, delete installation folder, reinstall just to make sure you have a clean slate. If you update to the same version all your save files should work and you can try reinstalling mods until you figure out how things got messed up.

Well that did it [:)]

By the way is there a bundle install somewhere out there?

Would make (re)installing alot easier [;)]

Figured out what causes it. If you overwrite the main dwd file (ship design) for a spesific race, the game wont start up again if you try to play as that race. Just had it happen to me again. At least now I know how to avoid it =)

Dracus -> RE: "Could Not Start This Game" (5/11/2013 2:38:48 PM)

Don't overwrite the game files, any custom files you want to use are to be placed in the customization folder as a mod.

Sekmeth -> RE: "Could Not Start This Game" (5/12/2013 1:09:02 PM)

Unless it is a full conversion, then you kinda need to overwrite game files. [:)]

But the problem was when you save your ingame ship/base designs and you use the same name as the default dwd file.
