Jenska -> Getting Started and MOD Tools (5/18/2013 8:40:36 PM)

OK, I always felt modders were different from those of us who "just play" for the enjoyment and admired them for it. Having tried to add some new stuff to ATG (mostly new airbone units), I've come to appreciate that difference even more, inclduing all the graphics work that's been done for the many unit variations.

SO, now taking the plunge, are there specific tools that people use to make the mods easier. I see that Notepad++ now longer seems to support the ATG code natively, so is there an add-on, or a replacement for the scripting. What image tools do people prefer and which images are the ones to change: small, big default, etc.... ??

I'll make more specific requests in a separate thread, so this one can stay tools based.
thanks in advance for the advice
and thanks for all the mod work that has already been done

Well..

Most of my graphics mod work, which has been flags and national symbols mainly, have been done in an ordinary graphics editor... in my case Microsoft Image Composer...

Some of the work I have done has also been done using GIMP.

My most helpful tool i find has been excel ;) to make sure everything was balanced up and so on....

I've used GIMP for some of the graphics work I've done, minimal stuff admittedly.

As Ernie says excel is da king for tabular data and simple(r) type manipulations.
