Or the beginning , if you aren't a pessimist

These are the Nullabor Cliffs that stretch between Western and South Australia. Makes up most of the Great Australian Bight. So, heads up, bring some grappling hooks the next time you're thinking of invading Australia.

geofflambert -> RE: The end of the world (5/21/2013 9:57:33 PM)

I see a UFO landing strip there. I won't be needing any grappling hooks.

jcjordan -> RE: The end of the world (5/21/2013 10:48:28 PM)

Well considering most invasions will be from the north & those are on the south/west, it's more likely you will need to put some soft padding at the bottom when you're pushed off of them [:'(]

Did anyone notice that looks like the West Coast of the US after California breaks off and goes out to sea?

You can even see the Western state line of Nevada.

Will_L_OLD -> RE: The end of the world (5/22/2013 1:18:50 AM)

You would need transports with escalators to scale those [8D]

tk208 -> RE: The end of the world (5/22/2013 2:42:39 AM)

Chickenboy -> RE: The end of the world (5/22/2013 3:14:46 AM)

I thought Montana or Texas had a lot of flat, open space....wow. [X(]

JeffroK -> RE: The end of the world (5/22/2013 3:48:17 AM)

They can be up to 300ft high.

There are a number odf viewing points along the Nullabor Hwy which allows you to get far too close!

The Nullabor Plain alone is 1/3rd the size of Texas.

That means it's not even 1/7th the size of Alaska. Don't you Aussies try to flaunt the fact that you have a whole continent to yourselves to us Yanks. It's very unseemly of you, you know.

Just curious, though. Why is the Nullabor Plain alone? Does it have bad breath or something?

JeffroK -> RE: The end of the world (5/22/2013 5:53:17 AM)

It would be about 1/20th the size of Alaska if they flattened it out!

What's your problem, dont like sharing with our Colonial brothers?

They add a bit of class to the area.

John 3rd -> RE: The end of the world (5/22/2013 8:29:11 AM)

Magnificent picture and I would NEVER want to scale those...

crsutton -> RE: The end of the world (5/22/2013 8:14:02 PM)

Yeah but I bet the landing would be unopposed....[;)]

AW1Steve -> RE: The end of the world (5/22/2013 9:34:47 PM)

pws1225 -> RE: The end of the world (5/22/2013 11:25:46 PM)

Awesome!

HexHead -> RE: The end of the world (5/23/2013 12:03:57 AM)

Unopposed landing? Maybe not.

I needed a laugh tonight, this pic and thread did it!

HexHead -> RE: The end of the world (5/23/2013 2:15:34 AM)

Glad to help.

JeffroK -> RE: The end of the world (5/23/2013 3:29:21 AM)

Land in the Eucla area where the cliffs are about 10 km inland and the sand dunes go down to the beach.
Of course they are massive sand dunes.

In WW2, you would be interdicting a rarely used dirt track, the rail line is about 200km inland.

geofflambert -> RE: The end of the world (5/23/2013 3:43:36 AM)

Hexhead, I don't know what's wrong with you people. Haven't you taught your roos about the dangers of smoking? What about the wallabys?

Hexhead, koalas?, You are incorrigible beyond belief.

HexHead -> RE: The end of the world (5/23/2013 3:50:37 AM)

incorrigible

Flatterer. Come over to my place & I'll show a Gorn a good time, ya big green lug, you.

geofflambert -> RE: The end of the world (5/23/2013 4:44:16 AM)

You mean "Your place" is infested with cockroaches? That's what we gorn call a good time! Yumm.

geofflambert -> RE: The end of the world (5/23/2013 4:47:49 AM)

Oh, you say bedbugs? I'm afraid only French gorns know how to prepare those properly.

HexHead -> RE: The end of the world (5/23/2013 4:51:38 AM)

C'est magnifique, mais c'est ne pas un gorne.

geofflambert -> RE: The end of the world (5/23/2013 4:54:43 AM)

You almost leave me speechless, but I must say, I will be a garnish for no man.

HexHead -> RE: The end of the world (5/23/2013 5:02:43 AM)

Who sez I'm a human male?

geofflambert -> RE: The end of the world (5/23/2013 5:04:28 AM)

It isn't. It is a tectonic anomaly.

A really sad story.

Many, many years ago I had some mates who liked to go hunting. (I the hills behind Omeo, look for Sale in WITPAE)

I had not long returned from WA and got invited, I was an average to good marksman.

Someone mistook a wombat for a 'roo, have no idea how??

They sat it up against a log, ciggy in mouth, Collingwood scarf & beanie (Think Man U or Yankees in Aussie Rules) and took photos.

Very sad people.

(Last time I went shooting as well)
