Colonization as a pirate (Full Version)

So I built a colonization ship as a pirate faction, then colonized a planet. I did not gain control over the planet (just a boost in the control I had over the planet). Is this working as designed or a bug?

That's working as designed. Pirates do not have the population to outright gain control of a planetary population early on. However, if you find a colony ship you can use it to establish a small independent colony as close to your power center as possible. That will be a very easily controlled planet as its population starts small and once you get it to the Criminal Network stage, you will be able to gain ownership over it.

I just realized you said you built it rather than found it. Can you confirm for me exactly how you built it? That part is indeed a bug if you didn't already own a colony.

Go to the planets build screen and queued it up for construction, not sure if there is a special way to go about doing it.

No, I'm afraid when he said it wasn't a bug I deleted my savegame to continue playing. Sorry, if I run across it again I'll be sure to upload it here.
