larryfulkerson -> RE: Barbarosa 41 revised (5/25/2013 7:01:20 PM)

Here's what supply looks like in the Riga area. Shortages are starting to be felt. I'm having to postpone attacks and the like.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Barbarosa 41 revised (5/26/2013 12:27:29 AM)

Here's the T6 front lines. I'm running into some stiffer resistance now. The advance is going to have to slow down due to supply
difficulties. I'm trying to rest about 1/3 of the force and fight with the other 2/3. It's working so far.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Barbarosa 41 revised (5/26/2013 12:34:24 AM)

Here's the Riga area w/ the supply displayed as well. Supply is too low to conduct combat so I'm just forming a front line here to contain
the Soviets for now. I'll need to ship some fresh troops in here because it's getting too thin in some spots.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Barbarosa 41 revised (5/26/2013 12:53:39 AM)

Here's what the Smolensk area looks like now. I'm thrusting slowly because supply is so low.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Barbarosa 41 revised (5/26/2013 1:46:56 AM)

There's a situation going on in the south. I'm going to try an end sweep and try to go behind the Soviet defenders to try to cut them
off from their supply. Will make taking them down easier in the long run.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Barbarosa 41 revised (5/26/2013 2:08:35 AM)

I made a hole in the Soviet lines and I'm exploiting it now. I'm going to have to push some heavy squads into that gap to keep it open
and maybe make it bigger. Those little boys are just my recon elements and have no mission to hold the line anywhere.

larryfulkerson -> Barbarosa 41 revised turn 7 (5/26/2013 2:49:27 AM)

Here's the turn 7 front lines:

larryfulkerson -> RE: Barbarosa 41 revised turn 7 (5/26/2013 2:58:11 AM)

Here's the Riga area. I was going to try to wrap around the Soviets but I see there's a reserve force occupying that space. D'oh.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Barbarosa 41 revised turn 7 (5/26/2013 4:21:38 AM)

Here's the Smolensk area. The Soviets are starting to get a pretty sizable crowd between me and Smolensk. It's not going to be a
walkover. Supply is too low to go to war here yet. I'm thinking it may take a couple of turns to get the supply level to where it needs
to be for some sustained combat.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Barbarosa 41 revised turn 7 (5/26/2013 4:59:05 AM)

I was right in the middle of doing an end-run around the north end of the Stalin Line and some Soviet reserves engaged my recon
units and so the end run didn't work this time. I'll need some more and heavier troops to do an end run it seems.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Barbarosa 41 revised turn 7 (5/26/2013 6:14:20 AM)

The Finns are active now and I'm concentrating the proponderance of the force available on the south end so that I can try to force a
hole in the Soviet line and swing east blocking most of the Soviet stuff from Leningrad and safety. I'm trying to work it so that I kill the
most Soviets possible. If I just happen to capture Leningrad that's just icing on the cake.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Barbarosa 41 revised turn 7 (5/26/2013 7:15:32 AM)

Here's the front lines at the beginning of turn 8. It's starting to turn into a toe-to-toe grind. Maybe I can make a hole in the Soviet
front line somewhere and rout them. I can dream.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Barbarosa 41 revised turn 7 (5/26/2013 7:27:16 AM)

Here's a look at the operations in the Riga area. As you can see the supply level is truely a problem. The advance is probably going
to have to come to a stand-still for a couple of turns to let the supply level rise enough to continue. I'm hoping it will rise quickly.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Barbarosa 41 revised turn 7 (5/26/2013 8:17:17 AM)

Here's what it looks like in the Smolensk area. Supply is so low that the advance is halted here. Maybe we can hit the road in a
couple of turns or so. But for now the most advanced elements are going to stand down and refit.

WITP:AE's loss is TOAW's (re)gain. Welcome back, Larry. (I think.)

+1 [:)]

Although I must admit that I rarely visit the WitP subforum, just too darn complicated for me.

shunwick -> RE: Barbarosa 41 revised (5/26/2013 10:18:45 AM)

Larry,

Just a quick question. Are you using the new supply rules or the old supply rules?

Best wishes,
Steve

larryfulkerson -> RE: Barbarosa 41 revised turn 8 (5/26/2013 11:36:47 AM)

This is the Stalin Line in the southernmost area. Supply is poor and the advance is most likely stalled. Maybe not. If I can get a really
good surround on all that Soviet stuff then maybe this area has a chance to make some progress.

Hey there Josh. Thanks for dropping by. I've got a WITP-AE game going even as we speak. My opponent is Jim Moore. Yeah, I've
never heard of him either but he's a good opponent. I'm playing as the Jap and it's going rather well so far. I've let Tokyo get too far
into fuel deficit and all my supplies to the outlaying ports leave out of there. D'oh.

Hey there Steve dude. I thought maybe a screen grab would give you all the settings I'm using so far. I'm having a blast you guys.

Trusted PBEM, eh? I wonder which version you play with lol.. Isn't counterbattery too buggy?

Hello there Telumar dude. I haven't noticed any problems w/ counterbattery operations. You know something I don't I'm guessing.
Would you care to be more explicit?

Telumar -> RE: Barbarosa 41 revised (5/26/2013 4:30:49 PM)

As you use 3.5.x.. counterbattery fire (land combat, not naval) was not working as intended. I don't remember the details and wether it was fixed in one of the post 3.5.0.48 versions, but what i know is that if you fired (with arty) on an enemy artillery unit the attacker took extraordinary losses that sometimes led to attacker evaporations.

I wasn't aware of this problem. I'll keep an eye open for this situation and check it out. Thanks very much for giving me a heads up.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Barbarosa 41 revised (5/26/2013 5:35:45 PM)

Here's the front lines in T10. You can image that the front lines aren't going to change all that much from here on so I'll just post stuff
that changes so you won't get bored.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Barbarosa 41 revised (5/26/2013 5:42:01 PM)

Here's the Riga situation. I'm pushing north slowly and I'm making headway. I'm using the "color-code rule" so action is slow here.
The color-code rule is where the health indicator on the unit determines whether it moves and fires or not. Red means the unit can't
move or fire. Orange and yellow means the unit can move but not fire. Green means the unit can move and fire. I'm using this rule
because I boosted the Axis ability to repair rail and I thought the Soviets might need a boost too.

EDIT: Oh, and retreats before combat are considered movement.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Barbarosa 41 revised (5/27/2013 12:10:46 AM)

Here's the Riga area now in turn 11. I'm pushing north and east to Leningrad.

larryfulkerson -> turn 11 (5/27/2013 2:26:23 AM)

Here's the Smolensk area now. I'm having problems finding enough units that have a green indicator to man the front lines.

larryfulkerson -> RE: turn 11 (5/27/2013 4:25:12 AM)

I found a weak spot in the Stalin Line in the south and I pushed on that weak spot and it turned into a hole so I pushed some units
through it and this is what that looks like now:

Here's what Odessa looks like. I'm attacking the city proper and hope to own it shortly.

larryfulkerson -> RE: turn 12 (5/27/2013 5:09:50 AM)

Well, here we are in turn 12 and I've done some movement and haven't done the combat phase yet and I thought I'd give you a tour
of the front lines now since things have changed since you last saw them. Leningrad is getting closer and closer and I expect some
Soviet defenders but have only sighted one so far. I may have to send more than just one division to drive around the north gap.

larryfulkerson -> RE: turn 12 (5/27/2013 6:01:12 AM)

Here's what Smolensk looks like now.....I've got several operations going on to surround a target division and destroy it. Sooner or later
I'll eventually make a hole I can drive through. Anyway, that's the plan.
