Well, since you don't mention which side you are playing etc this is the general procedure:

1. The Japanese player finishes his turn, Ends it and save it.

2. The Japanese player sends the saved turn to the Allied player.

3. The Allied player plays his part and Ends the turn and saves it.

4. The Allied player sends the saved game to the opponent.

5. The Japanese player loads this save and it will execute.

Note! If you watch the combat replays etc don't end them with Esc, make sure you have the same settings for
sound etc or you might have synch problems. This means that what the Allied player see in the combat replay
doesn't match the combat report and what the Japanese player saw.

6. The Japanese player sends the witp001.pws file to the Allied player. This is the combat replay.

7. The Allied player loads the combat replay (witp001.pws) and watches the replay.

After that it's back to 1 again.

Hope that helps and welcome to an extraordinary game (if nothing else because of the time it takes [:D])

Hi,

Just noticed that you posted in the AE forum previously. The sequence is the same so it doesn't matter but I think the synch problems might be unique to WitP.

Why do you need to unzip the file?

In my game (I'm Japan) I always include the report files with the replay so I zip the complete package. It makes it possible for the Allied player to compare with the report files from his replay in case he suspects a synch problem.

One problem I have noticed with this though is that you can get multiple combat reports about the same combat. I think that the reason for this is that the program makes a save of a combat every 10 seconds (or something) as long as you keep the combat results open on the screen.

In my PBEM experience the Japanese player sends the following:
asigint.txt
operationsreport.txt
combatreport.txt
witp001.pws the combat save
witpxxx.pws the game save
All of this is done without needing to zip anything.

You're correct in that there's no real need to zip it. I just do it out of habit. I suspect that others do the same as me while a lot of people don't.
