Not sure if this is WAD or a tech issue. In Legends and before, when you scrolled out a bit, your ships had identification icons like triangles, diamonds, etc around them in your color to identify them. They are still there but very faded and hard to see. When I zoom out and the sprite disappears, I often can't even see this icon or it is just a partial triangle or whatever. Is anyone else seeing this?

I've noticed I have trouble spotting my explorer or constructor ships at times due to it. I'll see the icons for my frigates and such but completely overlook those cause the icons aren't there or only partially there.

Ok, glad I'm not the only one. Just wondering if there is a settings fix. Working as designed or what

Is anyone else seeing this? Hello mikeCK. Elliot has reduced transparency of ship symbol icons so that they would be more visible in both system and galaxy views. They may need to be adjusted more. I'm sure he'll look into this soon. [:)]

It is WAD, but I also preferred the Legends way of displaying these icons. The dark colours now are hard to tell which kind of ship icon it is (Dark blue that Kiadian usually use for example). I love the graphics engine and performance overhaul, a lot of things look much nicer and crisper now and it performs great but there are a couple of design decisions I think didn't need to be made, like changing these icons. Another is addind an emboss effect to text, like in the diplomacy window, dark colours like dark red and dark blue have a white emboss effect or drop shadow that makes it really hard to read, just plain text in a single colour would be better!

It has been reported and adjusted, but legends was way better in this. I am quite sure the change is not as much on purpose, as a side effect of changing the graphics engine.

FYI for those not afraid to tinker those icons are one of the new image subfolders that we now have access to in Shadows, so feel free to tweak a few and report back!

yeah me too! in system view i barely see a small empire-colored PARTIALLY icon (just one side of the triangle for example). it's very hard to find these ships in your system. maybe make the icons a little bit bolder?!

I really don't like the new look either, Legends was just fine. I know this issue was looked at during the beta but .. I hope they look at it again.

Well, after playing a few days now I believe this is one of my bigger gripes. Please bring back the solid icons when zooming out - they are already there on the mini-map in the lower right corner. Its sad when I find myself looking at the icons in the mini-map to determine what I am clicking on in the main screen and we spend the bulk of our time on that main screen.

Bingling said it has been addressed so we will see. As mentioned above though, I'm sure some enterprising modded will create a solution

Hey you guys, have you tried a game with level 7 tech yet? I just played one and from the beginning all ship icons are perfectly visible... I'm wondering if there's a tech in there that improves the overlays? The icon are more transparent than Legends, but still bright and well outlined, easy to see from very high zoom level on the main galaxy screen.
