Lokasenna is writing an AAR, which I may not read. It's a PbeM I had that we resurrected and are starting from 22 January 1942.

I, the Allies, have lost Port Moresby. I think I got the Aussie Divs outta Singers (still held), I don't see those elements yet...the original IJ player got good ahistorical 1st Turn results and is a good surface skipper, so I have fewer assets than you might want. I don't get any more major pieces on the board for weeks.

The IJN just paid another call in the Hawaiian islands at Lihue and destroyed everything afloat - why didn't my LBA attack, dunno yet...

It will be a good challenge, even in Scenario 1.

It's going to be interesting, that's for sure. I haven't played Scenario 1 before and when I saw the Resource levels in the HI my eyes bugged out a little bit - they're far below my comfort level, especially for January of 1942.

I've also not played with Realistic R&D On (not that it made too much difference in my AI games), so the training wheels really are off this time.

HH, against a good opponent I think it's difficult not to lose PM, though I've managed a couple of times, not my current game though. I don't think it's as important as many people think (for either side) and it shouldn't be your first target to recapture, maybe not even your fifth or even tenth, but that would be a close one. Don''t worry at all, the Allied side pretty much can not be lost and is very difficult to lose even for a talented but inexperienced player. I view it as a training ground for you eventually doing your duty and becoming a Japanese player and embarass the Allied players.

Thank you for your most gornlike encouragement & expectations of a mere mammal.

I have an AI game where the IJs are throwing everything but the kitchen sink at PM & will prolly lose it after a bitter siege and struggle - just can't shovel fast enuff, not with Bettys and oppo surface wrecking CAs, CLS, DDs & merchies as fast as I can deploy or fix them. It does seem if the IJs want it that bad, it's a chore to deny them.
