Has anyone tried modifying the rules that the AI uses to create ship designs? I'd like to cut down on the amount of micro I use to design better ships and this seems like the ticket. Some obvious uses I can see are mining bases with more extractors and weaponry and cheaper small starports that so you can build them first and retrofit later.

Also pirate factions need starports without so many labs since they cannot normally support much research. The files are stored in C:\Matrix Games\Distant Worlds\designTemplates if anyone was wondering.
