RandomAttack -> Railroad Ownership (6/8/2013 4:25:07 PM)

Is there any way to tell at a glance RR status? For example, in Barbarossa, after the first couple of turns I find a jumble of RR repair icons, some have already been repaired, etc. I have to move thru each RR hex to get ownership and start the repair right? But after a couple of turns I can't remember which ones I still need to move thru. So several turns in, I find I forgot to move thru one RR hex that disrupts my entire supply chain...

Change your map mode to show ownership.

Sorry if I'm not clear-- but that means I don't have to physically move onto each rail hex? As long as it's in territory I own it will automatically repair? I ask because when I move onto a rail hex I get the repair icon-- but otherwise I don't (say, move alongside it).

Never mind-- guess I was in the wrong map mode.[;)] Thanks!

A quick way to check rail status is to select any eligible unit for strategic movement, watch which hexes highlight to see how your whole rail net looks, then cancel the move by clicking on any non-rail hex.

The act of moving through enemy rail hexes can cause damage, but hexes can also change ownership without having to move through them all, F7 cycles the map through ownership and other modes.

Good info-- thanks!

One other point I have found is that sometimes a rail break is hidden under a unit icon, so when checking rail status, I hit the space bar to remove the unit icons, so that I can see all the rail detail, then 'space bar' again to restore the units and get on with the strategy.
