Jamm -> RE: Ghost Divisions: Guderian Campaign (6/11/2013 12:31:12 AM)

I move a halftrack next to the lodge.
It is attacked and damaged by an NKVD squad.

Jamm -> RE: Ghost Divisions: Guderian Campaign (6/11/2013 12:34:19 AM)

The NKVD squad fires again, and the halftrack goes up in flames.

Jamm -> RE: Ghost Divisions: Guderian Campaign (6/11/2013 12:37:37 AM)

My other halftrack on the grounds moves up and scores a hit on the NKVD squad.
As my Rifle squad moves forward to join in the attack, it is hit in the flank by a second NKVD squad hidden in some cabins.

Here's the field at the end of turn 3.
My tanks and foot troops press forward.
The Russian Maxim mg still survives.
The Russian T26s block the roadway hexes.
My units attacking the lodge are taking a beating.

Turn 4

Things start to get busy.
In the heavy woods, hidden Russian Rifle squads ambush my troops. They destroy a German Rifle squad and damage an Lmg.
My exposed Rifle squad on the lodge grounds take fire from the NKVD squad in the cabins and a sniper( sniper survived and carried over from FF 1 ).

Jamm -> RE: Ghost Divisions: Guderian Campaign (6/11/2013 2:50:14 AM)

My halftrack crashes the lodge, assaults and eliminates the one NKVD squad.
The German Rifle squad in the open is destroyed by the Russian sniper.

A Russian T26 moves on a PzII.
It scores a hit.

Turn 5

My halftrack goes for another VP in the lodge.
The Commisar unit is hidden there and the halftrack is damaged.

Jamm -> RE: Ghost Divisions: Guderian Campaign (6/11/2013 3:01:34 AM)

I move on a T26, and my PzII scores a kill on the Russian tank.

Jamm -> RE: Ghost Divisions: Guderian Campaign (6/11/2013 3:07:21 AM)

As my forces press on, I lose another Lmg in the deep woods.
The remaining Russian T26 falls back to the lodge.
At this point we had to leave the campaign.
This FF became a meatgrinder for my German forces.

Jamm -> RE: PREVIEW AAR: Ghost Divisions: Guderian Campaign (6/11/2013 3:22:50 AM)

I hope you enjoyed this preview of the campaign system.

IMHO, I think the campaign system implemented is awesome.
How you play in a FF and which units survive and carry forward really will influence the next FF.
It adds a new layer of strategy to the battles.
Do you try for that last VP or do you save your wounded unit for the next FF. Or maybe go for that kill on the wounded enemy unit to deprive your opponent in the next FF.
An example of this impact I had while playing the Hoth campaign.
At the end of the second FF, my opponent scored a lucky one shot kill on my lone PzIIIe.
In the third FF, the Russian player still had a BA10 and 2 T26s and I had no armor to keep them in check.
It was an exciting FF and required a whole different strategy for the German player.
Things like this really open the game up and make it a blast.

Great AAR! I was Jamm's opponent. I enjoyed the games immensely. I've written an AAR from my perspective, which should be posted soon.

Lol...I'm thinking your an Italian commander instead of of a german one....while this game screams "bring me to the tablet" I purchased it anyway. I'm just a silly consumer what do I know.
