MarkMohrifield -> OKAY, WHO TARGETED MY HOUSE?! (6/9/2013 2:32:33 AM)

Yesterday afternoon, what I believe were four Hellcats and two Avengers passed over my house, just east of Cincinnati. I wanna know just which one of you guys is responsible!

More seriously, does anyone know what group really does this sort of thing in this area?

wdolson -> RE: OKAY, WHO TARGETED MY HOUSE?! (6/9/2013 2:57:06 AM)

It would be quite a trick to have 4 Hellcats fly over your house. There are only 5 airworthy in the world and one of them is in the UK. Two are in California and the other two in Texas. Avengers are pretty common because they were used for fire bombers.

Corsairs sound like Hellcats (same engine), and there are a lot of them flyable.

The thing to check is if there are any air shows in your area, or if there is an air show this weekend in the direction they were flying.

Bill

Sounds like it was a coordinated strike. They must not be flying with latest beta patch

We used to have an Air National Guard unit operating from Lambert Field. Twice a day, around 10:00 am and 2:00 pm there was a fox and the hounds exercise. Generally one or two F-15s would take off and about 10 to 15 minutes later three or four would take off in pursuit. I know this because the place I worked at was below the point where they diverted their flight path from the take-off vector. If I was inside I could hear them soon enough to walk outside and see them. One day was different, though. I happened to be outside around 10:00 am and just happened to look up. I saw the fox, but it wasn't an F-15. It was an A-10, and roughly 15 minutes later the hounds were off! I say "just happened to look up" because I could not hear that A-10 and if I hadn't looked up I wouldn't have known about it.

Bill, you are missing what's happening here. Clearly Mr. Mohrifield is being targeted by the AI, which cares not how many Hellcats there truly are and manufactures however many are needed. Since Mark is in Cincinnati, he should not expect a surprise number of CVs attacking him, but he should be on the lookout for more ironclads than he is accustomed too.

I'm quite willing to believe that I was mistaken, I'm far from an expert. Definitely not corsairs though, I'd have recognized the bent wings.

geofflambert -> RE: OKAY, WHO TARGETED MY HOUSE?! (6/9/2013 3:36:41 AM)

Never admit you might be mistaken, because then they have you, and the slope becomes slippier than a greased pig at the county fair.

geofflambert -> RE: OKAY, WHO TARGETED MY HOUSE?! (6/9/2013 3:55:18 AM)

Now, in all seriousness, there are actual personages behind the AI. I cannot say with certainty who these personages are, but I consulted through a gorn oracle with one of my ancestors, and he had this advice for them:

To translate, this means manipulate the truth to fit your lies.

You will also get the only flying B-29. $1,500 or so will get you a ride along. Almost did this a few years ago but went for the new camera

tocaff -> RE: OKAY, WHO TARGETED MY HOUSE?! (6/9/2013 12:43:01 PM)

Amazing at how the A-10 is slow, but on top of you before you even know it's there. I saw one at an air show at Atlantic City and they are quiet. Next up was a Tomcat and she retracted her wings, went to afterburners and turned out to sea. The roar of the engines was felt in my chest cavity and the Tomcat looked like a fireball as she departed.

Sardaukar -> RE: OKAY, WHO TARGETED MY HOUSE?! (6/9/2013 1:12:24 PM)

When I was in Israel last time, 4 CH-53 Sea Stallions and 2 AH-64 Apaches passed over me treetop level during evening when I was in yard. Talk about shock. They came like from nowhere.

I live a few miles from an airshow, wish they would all go away.

Have you tried relocating to the bottom of the sea? Sponge Bob tells me it is quite pacific there.

Nah, it looks more like one of CT's 100+ strikes coming through.

This would be about the 10th fragment attacking KB in the face of 200 fighters on CAP.

Possibly F8F Bearcats?

Seemed to be a pair of Bearcats that flew over Grand Forks few times for several weeks a couple of years back. I never really got close up look. At first I thought they were Hellcats. At a distance they did appear to be Bearcats.

Used to get the US Forest Service TBF's (five of them) fly over. Going between Minnesota and Montana.

In the flood of 1997, a US Forest Service A-26 dropped fire retardant on the downtown fires.

Time to invite some AAA :).

geofflambert -> RE: OKAY, WHO TARGETED MY HOUSE?! (6/10/2013 8:19:29 PM)

Easily procured in this country. Not AA though, but give us time.

Bearcats are quite possible. There are a fair number of those still around.

The Bearcat had the same engine as the Corsair and the Hellcat, but was a much smaller airplane. At a distance it has the same squared off features of a Hellcat so I guess it could be mistaken for one.
