After few hours i invariably get this crash. I thought its because of large sizes but on medium it crashes too. I have 3GB ram, manually set vm to 5 gb and the dw process never gets larger than 1.7gb anyway. I tried setting dw as laa, to no avail. It looks suspiciously like memory leak related to autosave to me.
