Don't think this thread should be in the Tech forum, if it should please move. Sorry Erik.[&:]

Anyway, just bought an Alienware M17X with a Radeon 7990 card and upgraded with a Samsung 250GB SSD. When playing DW I would always get lag in game with menus loading etc. but with the upgraded SSD it albeit disappears. Windows start up is blisteringly fast and lag is now a thing of the past.
If anyone is thinking of upgrading anything on their PC, put an SSD in as your primary drive.
WOW!!![&o][&o]

Although I'm sure most of you know this already![:)]

I saw elsewhere on this forum that their DW took 70 seconds to load. I timed my SSD system (my drive is 1.5 years old) and it took 53 seconds. Huzzah!

I once loaded all of distant worlds to a ram drive (uses your computer's memory as if it were hard drive storage) and didn't get any significant benefits. Maybe I would now with the new performance improvements.

Just be aware that SSDs have a fairly high death-rate, and defraging tends to shorten their expected lifetime, don't put anything important on them you aren't ready to lose, like Windows.

SSD are MORE reliable than HD and aren't defragged at all as they don't store memory in the same way.

Well, it all, obviously, comes down to buying from a quality-minded manufacturer. Both SSDs and HDs can fail, I guess I'm more leary of SSDs because I recently had one fail completely on me, while the HD I bought at the same time is still going fine, and it happened to have Windows on it.
