Rhino -> The Download is a monster, but how big is the game? (4/19/2000 6:06:00 PM)

Like the subject line says, the download is around 200MB (warming up GetRight), so how big does this make the actual game on my HD? I'm assuming that 200MB is compressed...I'm just wanting to know if I'll have to clear some space or not. If this has been asked before, my apologies, but I don't believe I've seen it mentioned yet.

The game is 277MB as of now and we are not done yet. We feel you will need 300-350 to play.

Holy Sheet! What all have you guys put in there?!?! I can hardly wait to see it (even if it will take me about a week or two to download it).

New Music, new backround sound effects specific to the weather and local (desert wind, jungle sounds, rain storms) some sound effects associated with terrain (hover the mouse over a hex and a sound effect accompanies the message, and best of all all new weapon and vehicle sounds, some sampled from the actual weapons themselves, others very good facsimiles! Several variations on each sound are included, so you don't alway's hear the same thing. It all adds a lot to the ambiance of playing the game! The new graphics are somewhat bigger as they are detailed for the new 800x600 screen resolution (all SP games were 640x480). The opportunity to enhance the game attracted a wide variety of talanted people who worked VERY HARD to bring you a great gaming experience. I'm sure some people thought the combat model was just fine the way it was, others don't care about sound, or the detail in the unit ratings and formations. At this point we want everybodies time and effort to be included - while perhaps not to everyone's taste, part of the baggage of gettiing something done free by volunteers, is that you can't slight any sections hard work. This may be inconvenient to those who have to wait a bit to enjoy it, but we did the best we could to ensure everyone will get a chance to enjoy the FULL RANGE of work all the tireless volunteers who worked on this project put in.

Talking of new things, will the PDF file manual have a 'Whats New' section where those who know the older SP versions can refer to and be off the mark in a hurry rather than having to pick through the whole document? Things like F9= tank crew bails out. Say, I sure hope that command has an 'are you sure' confirmation. Otherwise it could be a tad inconvenient for the fumble fingered. ------------------ Wait for Death. There's a choice? Recon
