HariSeldon -> Question about population (7/8/2013 8:46:45 PM)

Hi,

I didn't find any answer, I am not even sure if it is possible, so I submit this question to more experienced people [;)]

Is it possible to prevent its own race to migrate to new colonies ?
For example, I played with the Quameno, and in the early game, I found a colo ship with Naxxilan onboard.
I decided to establish with this ship a colony dedicaced for troop production. Naxxilan are better soldiers ...
So I ve got my colony with 30M people living there, and I started recruiting Naxxilan troops.
Few months later, there is more Quameno inhabitants that Naxxilan ! New troops available are Quameno troops ... Damn.
However, the reproduction rate of Naxxilan is a lot higher than Quameno's, and policies are set to Accept for foreign races and Resettle for same races.

Is it something I missed ?

HariSeldon -> RE: Question about population (7/8/2013 10:15:24 PM)

Now, my Naxxilan population becomes bigger than the Quameno (about 55 - 45%), but troops than I can recruit are stil Quameno's ...

On your first question - no there is no way to control the migration of your own race in the game. So the resettle option will move other amphibians to other worlds but will not affect the Quameno... Accepting foreign races just allows all races (i.e. not counting amphibians) to migrate there.

Not sure about the trigger for change of troop recruitment, it may take a while to update but from memory any troops already ordered for recruitment will not change their race. This being so the solution would be to queue up 100 or 1000 naxxilian troops at the time when they are recruitable (initial colonisation or if the recruitment swings back their way) and then disband any unwanted troops as they are actually recruited. Pretty gamey but it should work... [;)]

Thanks for the answer.

I'll use your solution and recruit as soon as the planet is colonized.
Troop maintenance costs begins to apply when the troop is ready I suppose ? Not while recruiting I hope ...

An option to choose which troop race to recruit should be interesting.

Yes, maintenance costs only apply once the troop finishes recruiting. Worst which can happen is that you pay momentarily for troops that you are disbanding.

Perfect.

Thanks a lot for your answers.

@MatrixGames : it is maybe an area of the troop managment to improve.

For information, the Naxxilan are now twice the Quameno, and troops than I can recruit are Naxxilan again.
