endoric_MatrixForum -> Playing again but.... new bugs? (7/10/2013 1:04:30 AM)

Ok so i got the age of shadows expansion and have been playing it for a quite a bit for a few weeks however i noticed some REALLY annoying issues that i dont remember having before the expansion.

The biggest issue is that my explorers when set to auto do not explore everything. They leave ruins unexplored, entire planets sometimes even just pop in a system, leave everything unexplored and go somewhere else. so i figured i will just set each explorer to a new system each time they finish... but nope... they still leave planets and ruins unexplored, which sucks as i can not send my construction ships to a planet using the empire planner if there is an unknown on the planets resources.

another issue i noticed is my spies return from successful steal research missions and every once in a while the research he stole shows no gain towards completion in the research screen.

thanks in advance!

I had the issue with ruins not being explored in an earlier version of Shadows - it stopped for me after 1.9.0.7 or 1.9.0.8, I forget which.

That said, I tell them to explore systems individually or sector by sector - the latter doesn't take too much micromanaging, maybe try that in the meantime?

Hi Endoric,

If you see this happening with 1.9.0.8, please upload a save file for us. I haven't seen my explorers ignoring ruins, or spies that succeed in stealing research resulting in no progress.

Regards,

- Erik

I've currently got eight exploration ships set to auto sitting around doing nothing, while there are scores of unexplored planets in systems that have previously been visited. Why don't auto exploration ships visit everything in the system to determine resources, etc. when they visit a system in exploration. It is frustrating to have to go back and do it manually.

ASHBERY76 -> RE: Playing again but.... new bugs? (7/10/2013 6:04:50 PM)

Nah, explorers always missed ruins and some planets from since the original.Reported many times.

A few questions.

If you are playing with a Pre-Warp start, were these systems ones where you already got information on them through other means before your explorers had the range to explore them? Do your explorers have enough fuel range to go to those systems and get back to refuel? What is your current hyperdrive and fuel storage?

Can you upload a save file for us please if you have save where this is happening right now?

Regards,

- Erik

I believe the issue went away when i upgraded my explorers. However i am starting a new Pre warp game and will record the situation and forward the save file the moment i notice the issue. It has happened with each prewarp game, i will restart games until i get the hang of the new features.

I tend to micro manage my early exploration so i will pay special attention.

The explorers were using the warp bubble tech and fuel range was not an issue.

Thank you so much for your attention, whenever i start to have a doubt about matrix games and their dedication someone like Erik kicks doubts ass and attempts to resolve the issue!

OK found a bug.

"In the ships central computer we have found technology that has advanced our understanding of Area Weapons."

I repaired the abandoned ship in a prewarp game that is in your starting solar system and received the above message but did not get any advancement in the Area Weapons tech.

where is the save game file located so i can send it.

Thanks!

Read this for instructions. =)

Dracus -> RE: Playing again but.... new bugs? (7/12/2013 12:47:00 AM)

they have always missed a few that are later found by builders or colony ships.

They also will skip any systems where you got a map discovered event. So any ruins in those systems are never visited.

This is a new bug that popped up with 1.9.0.8. Affects pretty much every tech bonus except when retiring advanced ships and stealing with intelligence agents.

Thanks for this report. This is fixed in the next update.
