Sieppo -> ACM's and mine field rebuilding (7/26/2013 1:44:52 PM)

If there are mines in the pool, will for example one ACM always rebuild the minefield to be 150? Or will it just keep it there once it decays to that? Are mines needed in the pool in that case?

I believe ACMs can only help maintain a minefield at a certain level. They can't rebuild or replenish them. You need minelayers for that.

Correct, and if you are short of mines many Allied ACMs carry a small amount that can be lain. Otherwise ACM class vessels only maintain minefields.

Roger that!

Not all ACM's carry mines, but those that do will lay and replace mines in the mine field.

Good point, and you do not necessarily want to be replacing mines in minefields in rear areas as the war progresses. You get a limited number of mines and once the Japanese sub and raiding threat is reduced there is little reason to be using mines on the west coast, Pearl and most any other base that is not front line. So best to keep an eye on your types of ACMs.
