Here's the north part of the front lines. John is making progress all over the map. It looks like curtins for the Soviets.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Field Marshal von Fogger vs Comrade Marshal Fulkerson (10/4/2013 11:01:16 PM)

Here's the front lines further south from the previous picture. John has made several holes in my lines and is pushing and shoving his
way past the remnants. The Soviet shock level is 80 I believe and John's is like 115 or so. So it's hard to stop John from doing anything
he wants to. D'oh.

Here's a look at the riverbank in the south. John is entering the Crimea and will probably continue pushing south and east from there.

Here's a closeup of the area just north of Kiev where John caught me off balance. He's making holes and pushing and shoving and this
time I happened to have some troops to rail into the AO to help out. I may be able to hold these guys back a turn or two.

Here's a close up of the River into the Crimea where John is jumping the river and is pushing south. I think maybe John will use the
unblocked guys to help unstop the dedicated crossings and then we'll have a game to play.

Here's how the air was seems to be going. I'm having high losses but evidently, so is John. That's because of all the airfield attacks
he's been doing. Terrifically ferocious fighting going on.

Here's what it looks like around the west of Leningrad now. John is moving south to outflank me and he's got no hinderence as far as I
can tell. Not much I can do about it. My heroic hero's are standing firm steady as a rock. And then just before they die they throw their
rifles down and start running.

Telumar -> RE: Field Marshal von Fogger vs Comrade Marshal Fulkerson (10/5/2013 12:12:29 AM)

How does it look like east and northeast of Leningrad? From the micromap in the above screenshot it seems you have brought up reinforcements, so i would be interested in the details.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Field Marshal von Fogger vs Comrade Marshal Fulkerson (10/5/2013 12:21:57 AM)

All but one of the squadrons are in the green and the one that's not is yellow. But there are a serious number of squadrons in reorg.
There's some serious fighting going on in the air. Mostly it's John doing 8 or 12 airfield strikes per round. And several rounds per turn.
That reminds me.......... I need to post the losses too. That's going to be in the next post after this one.

Details coming up. John is making slow progress w/ the Finns and he's sailed in some regular German formations and they are taking
part in the struggle in this area too. Actually they are the reason for any progress at all since the Finns are challenged in the strength
area.

Here's the area to the SW of Murmansk. John is advancing past the spot where he rubbed out my defender(s). I'm pretty sure I can
delay him here for a turn or two.

Okie dokie........I've moved everybody. Here's a stab at blocking the Axis stuff headed south from the gap. I have no illusion that this
will block the Axis for long but it might slow things down a little bit.

Another bug to report.

This is the third eng unit that I have come across that has no eng abilities. No wonder they are not fixing bridges.

It has no engineer capability because it has 0 MP left.

Thank you for catching that. I couldn't for the life of me figure out why it wouldn't have any engineering cap. since it has the squads for
it. See, I can still learn a thing or two about this game.

Like wise here. You live and learn. Thanks

New turn. This is the front lines in the area around Leningrad. So far so good. John is making good progress and my guys can't hold
him back. I'm just slowing him down.

Here's the next section south of the front lines. The middle of the lines is not moving all that much but there's fighting going on. Lots of
bombardment from John.

Here's the southern sector of the front lines. The Crimea is seeing the presence of new Axis units as they come across the river.

Telumar -> RE: Field Marshal von Fogger vs Comrade Marshal Fulkerson (10/9/2013 6:42:45 PM)

Any news from the Svir river front? The Axis is probably heading for Novaya Ladoga. Capture of this town will deny Leningrad to be supplied via Lake Ladoga. It removes the Leningrad SP. Then all Army Group North has to do is to drive east south of the city to meet with the combined Finnish/German Karelian army. This could result in a gigantic Kessel.

Wuffer -> RE: Field Marshal von Fogger vs Comrade Marshal Fulkerson (10/10/2013 1:44:51 AM)

I think Telumar has a good point here. Apart from Army Group North the major offense has stalled a bit, you still own D- and Z-town.
Where are his panzers, Larry? Have you been able to track all his fast units?

Back to Telumar's warning: The Germans could not afford such losses in the long run. A real strategic game turner could be a deep strike and meeting of the spearheads in the big area of Lake Illmen. To achieve this, the circled troops in pic 529 didn't need to cross the Luga in the direct way to LG, they could easily run straight east.

Here's the situation to the east of Leningrad. John is pushing south and yes, he's headed for Novaya Lodaga and I've got it
garrisoned pretty well so far so that's not an immediate problem.

Actually to tell you the truth I've lost track of where his tanks are. This game has been so confusing and fast paced that the Panzsers
were another thing to keep track of and I couldn't.

That's what John has planned I'm pretty sure. It sounds like something he would do.

I do not have the strength to do that now. I have been hitting my head against a brick wall attacking dug in units. My losses are too heavy. Every time I find a hole in Larry’s defense he quickly plugs it. He is on interior lines.

In the south look at how many turns it took me to reduce the Stalin Line and Odessa. The centre is WW1 trench warfare.

Most of my units are running on red and in a few turns the mud comes and then I will be between a rock and a hard place, come winter.

I think my main problem / s will be with the "flooded marsh" hexes as they are impassable at present but I think they will freeze over in winter. If you study the map you will see that there are large holes in my lines that I can not cover at present. With winter I think Larry is going to be able drive deep into my rear.

So at present I have to work out a way to keep the pressure on Larry, build up my supply, rebuild many of my units, work out where Larry is going to attack come winter, then prepare my defensive positions on the GTI, then work out my counter attack routes and objectives. And if I am wrong…….

GTI..............Grand Tactical Interface, Great Terrain Interfierance, Good Time Initiative. What's GTI mean fogger dude?

Here's the front lines in the northern part of the T27 GTI.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Field Marshal von Fogger vs Comrade Marshal Fulkerson (10/11/2013 3:21:30 PM)

There's not much of a war going on in this view of the front lines. John isn't pushing very hard here. An attack every once in a while.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Field Marshal von Fogger vs Comrade Marshal Fulkerson (10/11/2013 3:27:13 PM)

Here's the southern view of the front lines. Most of the fighting is taking place around Leningrad and here. John is still trying to push
further into the Crimea. The fighting on the riverbanks has reached the savage level. I attack now and then when I get a good situation
to pursue. I'm attacking at ignore losses since that was Soviet doctrine at the time.
