After resolving a .dll issue to get this new exe to work, I get a new error message which says "there is an error with your serial number as entered". I only ever get this message when trying to use the "Opart3XBb" exe, not with the regular game. Anyone encountered this before?

I got this also. I saved the original exe and renamed Opart3XBb. Then it worked ok.

governato -> RE: AA Patch - unofficial and temporary. (11/30/2013 4:16:47 AM)

For convenience, HERE is a link to the Opart3XBb file.

Some of the tests are discussed in the RFC thread. (10/13 post)

That appears to have fixed the problem. Many thanks. :)

Hi chaps,

I suspect I'll just have to wait for the official patch, but is anyone could help, that'd be great.

All you need to do is put in some spaces. Instead of Opart3XBb.exe right click and rename Opart 3 XBb.exe

Falcon1 -> RE: AA Patch - unofficial and temporary. (12/18/2013 4:18:18 AM)

Is this file Opart3XBb still the latest and greatest unofficial patch to use until 3.5 comes out? I've been running a patch called AA2Opart3 up until now but I see that this one fixes even more bugs?

Is installation still the same? Just drop it in the main folder and run it?

Falcon1,

Yes this is the latest version. It includes the AA patch and also works to mitigate the fortified/ignore losses problem. As for drop it in the main folder and run it, that did not work for me. I copied the original exe to a different name Opart 34 (for example), and then renamed Opart3XBb.exe to Opart 3.exe. That works ok.

Please note: scenarios saved with Opart3XBb cannot be read with the normal 3.4 Opart 3.exe.

Best wishes,
Steve

I understand the AA problem, but just out of curiosity, what is the "fortified/ignore loss" problem?

shunwick -> RE: AA Patch - unofficial and temporary. (12/18/2013 3:21:53 PM)

I hope this works...

Yup the RFC problem and tests with the new patch (which mitigates it *and* still fixes the AA bug are all described below. The instructions on how to install the patch are in the readme file that comes with the patch. I drop the exe next to the original one, make a desktop shortcut and it should work. The Oberst and I have lost contact with the user who developed the patches, so I imagine that there will be no updates. Then hopefully 3.5 will remove the need for them. Telumar told me that PBEM files written with Opart3XBb will be opened by TOAW patched to v3.5.

I am currently play-testing Rob Kunz's latest Ardennes '44, which was updated with 3XBb, with Antonio (Fulcrum90) and it seems to work more than just fine.

> Designed using TOAW 3.4 and Opart 3XBb. Changes in v3.8 include: entrenchment rate to 33%, Attrition Divider to 28; MRPB=4.

To give credit to HKunz, I think it has to do more with the scenario update (see above), but glad it works!
As some recent AARs show, pretty much any WWII scenario with the standard entrenchment rate value (100%) quickly bogs down to unrealistic WWI warfare.
Telumar and I are currently slugging it out with the latest version of EF, but this Ardennes looks pretty neat.

I thought it was enough to change MRPB....iīm going to try changing the entrenchment rate too with some of my favourite scenarios..thanks for the tip...Btw, yes, HKunz has done an good update of this scenario

Just a bump to the AA patch thread.

The link to the RFC+AA patch is HERE

They both were developed by user kmitahj.

trotsky1917 -> RE: AA Patch - unofficial and temporary. (3/26/2014 1:49:03 AM)

I have downloaded this patch and renamed it following the legend that is shunwick's advice, what is the best scenario to test that it is working properly, quickly....

best...

See how choppers finally get blown to bits by AA-MG and 23mm AA of the VC in any short Vietnam scenario; use the Ia-Drang Valley '65 and see for yourself :)

Dear Kmitahj

Your patch seems very interesting!

I would be happy to run it on my owb TOAW 3 game.

Unfortunatly, my old computer use the "slow" opart3.exe

It seems you did not yet provide a patch for that exe.

Would you be so kind making same modification for "slow" opart3.exe?

Of course if it is not al long work (just have to duplicate some code lignes?)...

It would be nice and would appreciate so much.

Here is my e mail, you can send me a lynk to download it

My very best regards

Oberst_Klink -> RE: AA Patch - unofficial and temporary. (7/15/2014 11:10:52 AM)

Kamerad

It works more than fine on older models, e.g. I got a netbook from 2008, 1,6GHz CPU, 2GB RAM and it works fine for all the regular, NOT monster scenarios.

kriszaz69 -> RE: AA Patch - unofficial and temporary. (8/11/2014 12:03:38 PM)

Dear Herr Oberst

I tried many times using the normal Opart 3.exe file...but it never worked (the game does not launch)[X(]

So I do use the Opart3Slow.exe file instead and it works great, even for big scenarios [8D]

So what I would need to use AA patch is a modified Opart3Slow.exe

If simply to do of course?

Can you help or some buddies from this forum?

My great thanks in advance [:)]

Kris

Hi, sorry for not responding - I was off for long time (troubled with real life and all).
Unfortunately it would be rather large (and repetitive thus boooring) undertaking for me. Currently I'm not in position to make any promises. Besides though it seems to take more time then I expected I'm sure that release of new TOAW version is pretty close (finally!) and it will make all the effort obsolete anyway.

Last, what are your PC specs. I'm happily running Opart3 (non-slow) on PCs which are 12 years old (well, at least their components are that old). Maybe there is a way to free some more resources (memory) on your PC to get Opart3 crunching (even if not stellar fast).
