LordZion -> cant figure out gas cloud options??? (8/5/2013 3:05:48 AM)

I can't deploy a supply ship at a gas anomile cloud please describe how I can do this I searched the ship option menus and I found nothing. Also please explain how to mine a gas cloud if that is possible. Thank you for your assistance players.

Hi LordZion

When zoomed into the gas cloud and with the Resupply Ship selected, hold down the Ctrl key while right-clicking the gas cloud. The Ctrl key will force the popup menu to show with all available options, including a Deploy command.

You wouldn't normally need to use the Ctrl key when deploying to Gas Giant planets, but gas clouds are a special case because they are so large.

Once deployed the Resupply Ship will automatically begin mining gas resources, filling it's cargo bays with fuel so that your fleets and military ships can refuel there.

Thanks
Elliot

Is this Ctrl key also the case when trying to refuel ships at a supply ship; I always have to do them individually. when I have a fleet with supply ship deployed and hit the refuel at nearest refuel point options a lot of times the Ships will their start heading to a gas mining station or space port even thou the are right next to the deployed supply ship with adiquite docking bays. Only 1 out of 50 times will they choose to refuel at the supply ship when I hit the "ref @ near fuel spot" button please advise

And also tech ? I updated my game and all my save files dissappered so I had to start over is this normal does it not just update or does it completely reset the game data or can I save my game to another folder then just copy paste it into DWlds file folder and continue with a updated version of my current game save. What is the latest version of DW and how often do you update. I just updated yesterday to version 1.9.0.8. and now I see ? Entreys related to version 1.9.0.9. in the forums and a lot of prob ?s with 1.9.0.8 also do I need to update again and if so how often and will I have to start over every time. Please advise. Thank You

There does seem to be a problem getting ships to recognise that a 'Deployed' resupply ship is near but you do not need to do them individually. Select the fleet, goto the resupply ship and right click over it and you will see it's name in the refuel popup.

Each version of the game has it's own folder. Go back one level and you will see them 1.9.0.8. You can delete these old folders and everything in them but beware if you do it from within the game as the game crashes on my computer.

I'm not sure I understand. Sorry. If a new version comes out can I update and keep playing my current game. If so please explain how I go about doing this. As the last time I updated all my game save files were erased thank you please advise?

Hi LordZion

Your files were not deleted. The default savegame location is simply reset with each update. You can still play with your old savegames.

To find the old games, do the following:
- click the Load Game button to open the Load Game file/folder window
- the folder path at the top of the folder window should look something like: C:\Users\[YOURUSERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\Code Force Limited\Distant Worlds\1.9.0.9\SavedGames
- navigate up two folder levels so the path at the top of the folder window looks something like this: C:\Users\[YOURUSERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\Code Force Limited\Distant Worlds
- select the folder from the previous version with your savegames and drill down two levels so the path at the top of the folder window looks something like this: C:\Users\[YOURUSERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\Code Force Limited\Distant Worlds\1.9.0.8\SavedGames

Thanks
Elliot
