budd -> can't install GOT (8/6/2013 8:25:26 PM)

just purchased spartan & GOT, Spartan installed just fine[did have to drop the dll file into the main folder to get it to run]

GOT download is a small exe. file, when i click it and pick run this always pops up.

How do I get a download i can install? I'm running win 7 64 bit. Spartan installs and plays.

PipFromSlitherine -> RE: can't install GOT (8/6/2013 9:23:59 PM)

Were these purchased and downloaded from the Matrix site? Have you tried running the installer in XP Compatibility mode (although I am fairly sure this should not be necessary)?

Cheers

Pip

Thx for the reply,

I just purchased them from matrix. Tried to run the installer in Xp mode, same error. Also redownloaded from plimus and the matrix members area, same error with all downloads.

PipFromSlitherine -> RE: can't install GOT (8/6/2013 10:51:17 PM)

Hmmm. I'm not sure where the Matrix version (this is an older game from back when there were different installers) is kept. The Slitherine installer doesn't have this issue, but I will look into it.

Just as a check - have you tried running the installer as Administrator?

Cheers

Pip

budd -> RE: can't install GOT (8/6/2013 11:29:04 PM)

yes sir, tried that already.Like i said Spartan didn't have an issue. The download size for Spartan was 298 megs, GOT is 26 bytes on all the places i downloaded it from. Nice game by the way, i'm really liking the look of it. Kind of waiting to get GOT working so i can play Spartan thru GOT.
To bad its a fixed resolution, no work arounds for that? no config to edit or something?

VPaulus -> RE: can't install GOT (8/7/2013 1:14:11 AM)

I've just checked MAtrix installer, GatesOfTroy-Setupv100f.exe, and it's working well in Windows 7 x64.
I suspect you might have a corrupt download.
What is the size of your installer?

budd -> RE: can't install GOT (8/7/2013 1:24:51 AM)

26 bytes download twice from plimus and once from the members area.I'll try the members area again.

Still 26 bytes when attempting to download from members area, my orders section.

VPaulus -> RE: can't install GOT (8/7/2013 1:38:54 AM)

I have replied to your ticket and sent a new download link in a separate email.
Try downloading using a different Internet browser than your current one.
IF this fails we can try another way. :)

FedeM -> RE: can't install GOT (8/7/2013 1:49:52 AM)

I have the same problem. Bought both games.
Spartan I was able to install it but after the Thermopilae battle all gets black with the music.

Im on windows 7 64. Downloaded the dll file put it on the game folder and also on system32 folder but no luck.

GOT the file is 26 KB so unable to install.

Pls help?

tks

budd -> RE: can't install GOT (8/7/2013 1:58:45 AM)

tried the email links in chrome, spartan works fine, GOT still 26 bytes. I uninstalled firefox and safari, i'm updating explorer as we speak. i'll try with explorer when updated, but since the spartan download works fine i'd be surprised if another browser worked.

You Sir, have been very helpful. Downloaded and installed. Wouldn't start without dropping the .dll file in the main directory, but after that it started up fine. Now i don't suppose you have a work around for the fixed resolution[;)].

Thanks again for the great support VP, hopefully fedem gets his problem sorted out. I'll post if any other issues come up, thx again.

VPaulus -> RE: can't install GOT (8/7/2013 3:06:20 AM)

@budd
Sorry, but there isn't a workaround for changing the resolution

Please check you support ticket.

SunDowner -> RE: can't install GOT (8/7/2013 1:25:48 PM)

Same issue with GOT: all emailed, Plimus website, and Matirx website download links point to the file name, which appears to be only text and not an actual executable. Have sent emails to Plimus and open help desk ticket this AM. So whats the fix ??

Thanks

budd -> RE: can't install GOT (8/7/2013 2:22:28 PM)

I was provided with an alternate download location. Someone will be along to help. I did have to use my members screen log in, not my forum log in. I had to drop the .DLL file in with the exe. To get Spartan & GOT to run. The file should have a link here, I got it on the slithrine forum.

SunDowner -> RE: can't install GOT (8/7/2013 8:36:23 PM)

Thanks Bud, had to do the same steps as you said. Have not downloaded SPARTAN yet, but sounds like the d3drm.dll should be with that .exe as well.

PipFromSlitherine -> RE: can't install GOT (8/7/2013 8:42:41 PM)

The problem is that we do not have permission to include the DLL with the game (it's owned by Microsoft) and yet prior to recent versions of Windows it was included in the DirectX install.

I will look at adding a link to the file from these forums though.

[Edit: looks like it is already here, I have renamed to make it clearer and easier to find

]

Cheers

SunDowner -> RE: can't install GOT (8/7/2013 9:13:40 PM)

PiP,

Downloaded SPARTAN and installed, no issues. Started GOT, and all SPARTAN scenarios available in GOT without further intervention.

Some developers aren't known for backwards compatibility (DirectX) what can you do? Easy fix.

Look forward to both Sparta and Troy.

Mark
