F0rdPrefect -> The german version strikes back (8/26/2013 9:30:55 PM)

I have some issues with the german translation of the game. My forum search showed that there were similar issues before, but none of them help me.

I bought the german release of DW as well as RotS on amazon, because they are way cheaper over there. The release is german only. There seem to be no possibility to switch to english.

While the translation is certainly not the best - I can live with it. BUT it totally ****s up the format.
I can mostly live with this, too.

But in the game setup, when I start a new game, a checkbox is moved out of the screen due to the format, giving no clue whether the option is checked, or not. (It's about the original DW Storyline.)

So, is there

a) Any way to switch the game to english?
b) Any way to reset the new game setup options (because I know that checkbox is selected by default)?
c) Any way to get rid of the ridiculous formatting?

Note that I can't reinstall the game as I'm on vacation currently.

Also, I read that when I install a new addon, most of the game will be english, but some parts will still be german. Will these parts only be in the galactopedia?

Thank you.

Any ideas?

Greetings,

i also have the German Version of DW. All Expansion are English. After Installation of the Expansions the Game is now in English. Some Dialog-Files are still in German. One or two but the Menu and the Rest is in English.
But as you said, you can't reinstall... so.

- All Game-Texts, are in the DW-Folder/ GameText.txt <- maybe it helps... you can change your Text after the semicolon!
Import you for German-Specal-Charakters like ß, ö, ä, ü look for the Encoding. On Windows (Editor) use Encoding UNICODE-Big ending or just UNICODE.

Awesome, thank you :)

edit: Maybe someone could provide me with an english version of the gametext file? I was able to solve the formatting issues, but an all english game would be even nicer^^
