CitizenX -> PBEM file attachments (1/15/2003 12:16:20 AM)

I am playing a PBEM game. The 1st round of sending an downloading an attachment and sending an attachment went fine. My opponent took his turn posted it. It D/L fine. I watched the VCR took my turn saved the game. When I went to send the attachment the forums won't let me for some reason. I end up with a blank screen and no post.

Any help please

How big is the PBEM file? Big ones can push 1 Meg even zipped and I think gmenfan said there is a limit on size. I don't remember what it is, maybe ~500Kb?

The file is 196 kb zipped and 1.87 mb unzipped

Capt. Pixel -> It isn't file size (1/15/2003 3:12:08 AM)

There's something buggy about the file attachment routine. I'm having the same problems with similar sized files. They all fit within the proscribed 500K but still won't upload to the forum. :confused:

Well, if I had one complaint about this forum it's that they make unannounced changes in policy. Perhaps they dropped the max size again.:confused:

Orzel Bialy -> Gentlemen.... (1/18/2003 6:26:39 AM)

Gmenfan tried to help me with this very issue last month.

I have times when I can post a 400mb file and others where I couldn't post a 95mb file....and all within ten minutes of one another.

There are a couple things that can help from time to time...but they aren't 100% proof all the time.
1. Logoff of the Forum and then back on a couple minutes later. It clears the temp cookies...and puts new ones in when you log back in.
2. Clean out your mailboxes. Clean out the inbox, the sent box and any trackings that may be still going on.
3. Unfortunate but true...Try uploading at less busy times. I find that I can't upload a d@mn thing when there is more than two dozen members signed in and posting...but have far fewer issues when their are only a dozen or less. I guess the servers just can't handle the load.

Hope it helps...it's not perfect...and it's not a total solution...but it's something.
