What is the use and purpose of command posts in game turns? I know the historic use of Stug's in WWII but find them not very useful or hitting much. Anybody use them with much success? Thanks

The best use of StuGs that I have found is in support of infantry assaults or engineer mineclearing efforts. Their guns are best against infantry and soft targets. Due to having a very limited traverse, the chances of hitting moving vehicles is low compared to turreted AFVs. As for CPs, I have found no use for them other than as "window dressing" for certain scenarios. The HQ A0 unit is better at everything than the CP. ------------------ The Motor Pool http://www.geocities.com/aurion_eq/index.html?976419304550 kmcferren@cvn.net

I just use CP's for looks, along with CP's renamed to be Mess tents or a tank repair shop and HQ's for other units like the British Anti-Fly Squad . Also change trucks into Kitchen trucks, parts trucks and ambulances. They don't have any function - it's just for "ambiance". I have found stugs to be best for infantry support or stationary, soft, targets like anti-tank guns. I have had some success in using them on other tanks, but only in ambushes at close range or city fighting. They dont seem do well in open country.

MindSpy The STG's serve a number of significant roles. Basically if you play the game -- choose whatever you like and play -- then it is quite clear that in a year/location/ or other when more powerful tanks are available the STG's will of course be overlooked. Yet in an attempt to simulate a battle they might be the ONLY German tanks you can get your hands ON! As well the STG's in game terms do generally perform well if you approach a target to within one hex! As well their small size makes them hard to hit! Command Posts are crucial. Granted the game allows very small formations in Command and Control settings yet if you play a side with that was typically weak on small unit tactics you will find that the selection of one or two Com Posts will make the difference between sitting around and getting decimated for lack of orders and being able to wheel out of there! The extra Command structure with orders for in contact units down the chain of command is a very valuable piece of equipment that does not cost much (but be sure to buy a heavy truck to transport it if things get too hot-for all those who lead from the front) MindSpy

I agree with most of the posts here. The Stugs are good for many support roles but have not been a good anti-tank unit unless in a ambush situation. The Command Posts are critical in C&C play as they generate orders. Hope this helps. Bruce Semper Fi
