Pretty cool to see so many in one place. I've only ever seen one plane at a time... Fifi came through town once on her own, and I went on a B-25 ride once (unsure which model...probably J because that's what Commemorative Air Force has several of)...

Is this every year in the same place? Presumably somewhere in MN? Might be worth a trip homewards for me next year.

The Oshkosh air show is held annually in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

And that's why I couldn't find it in MN.

Hi all,

Very nice - thanks! [:)]

BTW, how many original parts are in all those WWII vintage planes? Are there many re-dos (i.e. look-a likes)?

Leo "Apollo11"

A good bit are original parts but due to having to make so many new parts & bring them up to flying condition many of the planes are in the Experimental category of a/c. Most of the IJ planes are modded american trainer planes (Zero's are normally T6 Texans & the Vals/Kates are Vultee BT13 trainers) There is one Zero that is original or at least has an original Jap engine out front (based at Chino CA IIRC). I'd really love to go again at some point & maybe even renew my medical so I can fly into it (watch some Youtube vids of a/c flying in to Oshkosh) but I suggest everyone who enjoys planes/warbirds go at least once. I've got some pics of my trip from years ago.

That P-40 makes my day. The early model P-51 marked Tuskeegee Airmen seems to have only 2 gunports per wing. Is that accurate?

Yes. The six gun armament didn't come until the D model.

Used to go there as a high school kid. There's no better show for an aviation enthusiast. I even bought "Baa Baa Blacksheep" and had it signed by none other than Pappy Boyington there.

Cheers,
CC
