estaban -> Still some problems with pilot allocation (1/16/2003 2:05:32 AM)

There are still problems with pilot allocation algorithms in the game. Previously, the problem had been that squadrons were getting too few new pilots assigned to them if they had been heavily attrited. So you had squadrons that had rebuilt to 15 aircraft, but only had 7-8 pilots.

Now you have the opposite problem. I have squadrons that have lost a lot of aircraft, but keep getting pilots assigned to them.

For example, I have a couple squadrons of Nells that took lots of losses in a game I am playing. Both these squadrons have hovered between 7-9 planes for the last couple game months. One squadron just got attrited down to 5 planes. However, these squadrons are still adding pilots above the "number of planes + 3" rule. The squadron with 5 planes just added 3-4 new pilots, and now has 5 planes and 15 pilots. The problem is that the new pilots are diluting the experience factor of the entire squadron. That makes the existing planes less effective, and increases the casualty rate of an already pretty beat up sqadron.

This is just an extreme example. I have many other squadrons that have had 15-20 planes for the last game month or two, but are adding pilot up to the 25-30 pilot level. Again, this dilutes the pilot experience and increases my air casualties.

Can you please try to rein this in?
