sweeteye -> AH STALINGRAD (9/17/2013 12:11:17 AM)

Have been checking out various Vassal modules for ideas on designing my own map and different ways I might setup the buttons and drop down menus....I was looking at the Avalon Hill Stalingrad module,a game I have always wanted to try out,and ended up starting a game.No rule book comes with the Stalingrad module but I was able to find out the victory conditions by a few quick browses on the web...Rest of the game is self explanatory if you have ever played an old table top wargame and the game charts speak for themselves...Also have a game of Waterloo started on my dining room table....Guess I will switch back and forth......Anyways, I thought I would post some screens from my computer and cell phone....Guess I am just a forum fly.....[:D]

There is a superb Streets of Stalingrad module and if you look hard enough the rulebook and scenario book is online.

sweeteye -> RE: AH STALINGRAD (9/17/2013 10:44:45 AM)

Yes....I saw both of them.....will probably get it since Stalingrad makes for such an interesting scenario...I spent several hours looking for the AH Stalingrad rulebook....one site has it but I cannot get it to download...one of those sites loaded with advertising and when you try to get the download you are automatically directed to something you do not want..[8|]

Streets of Stalingrad is the best Stalingrad game out there...you need the rules and scenario book though.

Umm those screenies are from a Leningrad game, I think, and the first Waterloo pic is so out of focus it's annoying.

sweeteye -> RE: AH STALINGRAD (9/17/2013 7:39:53 PM)

I was looking at Streets of Stalingrad a bit closer....Does look very good overall...Noticed the game playing time is 4 to 48 hours....Might try a 4 hour scenario scenario....Doubt I would play an involved scenario that could take up to 48 hours playing time. That is what I like about the older Avalon Hill games...Very easy to learn and play..you just have to use your imagination a little when it comes to all the extra details and a few beers do not get in the way..[:D]

Ah yes the beauty of Stalingrad on Vassal is a good training tool on the way to Russian Campaign & ultimately to World in Flames. Very keen of you to notice it Grasshopper! [:D]

Well, the pictures show Finland and areas surrounding Leningrad.

sweeteye -> RE: AH STALINGRAD (9/20/2013 8:26:29 PM)

Map does cover a large area...I thought perhaps the art work might have been deceptive...so many games out there and many are similar....[:)]
