Duke even beat Gordon to the finish line. Sad turn of events for the Black Mesa team. But when your inventor has become a cult-like demigod with aspirations of 'higher office' like Gabe Newell, it's only a matter of time before the entire company pulls a deus ex machina in order to catapult the once humble onto the mighty throne of... whatever golden crown they seek. When this occurs, and with successful companies it almost always does, the thing that got them to their mighty position gets left in the dust. Will we see a Half-Life 3? Probably. Will it match up in any way to its predecessors? I bet not. Besides, Valve now has Steam, and Steam is currently juggernauting it's way like some kind of flesh eating blob to the top of the gaming industry. If you owned a horse race track, and ran restaurants and mini-casinos as well inside, just how concerned or interested would you be in one single horse? The horse that goes by the name of Gordon. Call me cynical, but I imagine the release of HL3 will contain at least one of the following terms... rail shooter, 286 DLC packs, Steam achievements (obviously in this case)... and the words that will make me cry, MULTI PLAYER CO-OP CAMPAIGN.
