patroklus -> Help! Turning off the blackbox of environment data? (9/27/2013 4:05:22 PM)

Help!
Pardon my ignorance...I have been searching through the game manual for a couple of hours, but I cannot find how to turn off black box showing white text next to the mouse cursor. The text shows the environment data (lat and longitude, humidity, temp, etc).
thanks in advance.

It doesn't turn off. Might be a nice option to suppress it while holding down a hot key for a clear picture in some situations?

No he's honest, we never thought that anyone would _not_ want to have this information available [:)]

haha

It would be great to the have the option to turn this OFF/ON. Sometimes it is useful, but other times I find it a distraction due to the numbers/text in the block are constantly changing and vying for my visual attention when moving the cursor on the map.

edit, is there going to be an update to turn this OFF/ON in a future?

I think there will be, I brought it up in the Beta but it was not that important. Low on the list and I am ok with that. Kind of like the drop down hotkey list etc..there are many things on the list it is just at what priority is it.

I agree. I love having it available all the time and it's never gotten in the way.

Primarchx -> RE: Help! Turning off the blackbox of environment data? (9/27/2013 8:47:58 PM)

It's definitely necessary. That's why I'm thinking a hotkey that suppresses it while pushed would work well for when you need a good view around the cursor.

patroklus -> RE: Help! Turning off the blackbox of environment data? (9/27/2013 11:07:03 PM)

I am glad you guys like it. However, it can be very distracting and the best would be to have an option to turn it OFF/ON and then have a hotkey to press to turn it ON.

To be honest I think it would be much better if it displayed information on the unit you hover over. I have never ,yet, cared what the weather was like in the area I'm playing but I have needed unit information constantly. It would save about a million clicks if when I hovered over a unit it would display, unit type, weapons loaded , weapons remaining, etc etc in that box instead of a weather and time update. Instead I have to click the unit, then click weapons, then click ...etc etc. Just think how much faster and easier it would be to just move the mouse over a unit and get at least basic info on it and its weapons

So whats the chance?

thewood1 -> RE: Help! Turning off the blackbox of environment data? (9/30/2013 2:32:04 PM)

+1, +1, +1 on unit hover

I have.

Very important for sonar especially.

thewood1 -> RE: Help! Turning off the blackbox of environment data? (9/30/2013 2:51:19 PM)

The box can cover a significant part of the screen. On a moment to moment basis, I would rather have groups list ships on hover and units list speed/altitude/loadout/mission. Weather is important, but I only need a snapshot of that once in a while.

I know its needed at times but compared to needing unit info its only a small fraction.

I'd also like to see a double click on a unit open its database view page.

Your post reminds be that--for whatever reason--double click is severely under utilized in Command

So is right clicking. For example if I press f3 to plot a course why can't I just right click to exit that mode?

Instead I have to press a key or go to the menu again, it's very non windows like.

I should also be able to lay down reference points by clicking as many times as I like, to make several points at once, and then right clicking to exit. Again Instead I have to hold control right click select "reference point" then left click to make a single point and then I have to do that all over again if I want a second point then again if I want a third point. Its just not user friendly.

Don't get me wrong I think the devs have done a hell of a lot of work on "the game they would like to play" [&o] but I have to wonder if they ever sat down and played the game? To me the UI seems very unpolished.

But they claim to be in it for the long haul so start polishing guys :-)

How about a small box on the right of the screen that displays this info as you move the cursor?

I like this option best...

I don't mind the box, but this option would also be welcome and I would probably use it.

i would only want this as an alternativeto existing setup (which I have yet to have a problem with).

Well I would like it in the black box since you're looking at the cursor why turn your head? I also have a three monitor setup and I'm sure others do also and the right is pretty far right. [:D] hey they could even keep the weather stuff but display unit info when you're over a unit. That way we're all happy! [:)]

leo321 -> RE: Help! Turning off the blackbox of environment data? (3/25/2016 2:48:09 AM)

I want to solve this boring box away to cursos, it blind the vision

ComDev -> RE: Help! Turning off the blackbox of environment data? (3/25/2016 8:28:02 AM)

Go to Game -> Game Options -> Map Display -> Map Cursor Databox Visibility -> Show on bottom.

Dannyp19 -> RE: Help! Turning off the blackbox of environment data? (3/25/2016 6:35:52 PM)

It has never bothered me, I keep it on the bottom. I just wish there was a way to make it bigger so I can read the damn box. That text is quite small for my vision[:)]

Or a way to move it off the tactical map and on to my second screen would be nice also.

Dysta -> RE: Help! Turning off the blackbox of environment data? (3/25/2016 7:23:31 PM)

I found that when the game is suffering performance impact, the cursor databox will also lags where it moves on the map. This also annoys me so I switched it to displayed on the bottom instead.

AlGrant -> RE: Help! Turning off the blackbox of environment data? (3/25/2016 9:40:53 PM)

I always play with this at the bottom of the screen.
And although it is an option, I can't ever imagine turning it off totally, it gives some useful info like 'xx.xxnm from sel' gives range from the selected unit and moving the cursor over the map not only shows depth but also expected CZ ranges.

leo321 -> RE: Help! Turning off the blackbox of environment data? (3/26/2016 1:00:53 AM)

It must be on future a option to keep this box up to info eventos to stay cursor alone

ComDev -> RE: Help! Turning off the blackbox of environment data? (3/26/2016 12:26:22 PM)

Found issue with pointer update, fixed in B807 [8D]
