Playing Tutorial #3 and I set a course for Stockdale to Area C on the other side of the island. I had the time compression to 1 min for the transit to area - and the routing sticks to a direct course - intermittently it switches to showing a route round the island with multiple waypoints and then reverts back to the direct route. I let it run on and then the boat gets stuck at the island. Had to manually route it round.
Am I missing something with an "avoid land" setting in routing or missions?
Also, are those white strips gunfire? Occurred when within close range of target.

Any thoughts here from the Devs? Or is this something where a) I've missed a bit really obvious in the manual or 2) it's being catered for in the upcoming patch?

Yes, that's gunfire.
I've alos had some problems with units getting bogged down on coastlines--happened to me when I routed a GROUP around land and didn't account of the size of the group (ie, it's bigger than a waypoint [;)]) Hopefully the game will get a little smarter about that.
