First of all I appreciate Extraneous's comment on my AAR and his opinion is that the AAR is informative but not very good as an AAR. I am not offended by that as it might not be a correctly done AAR. Never saw this game before I joined the beta testing, what I have learned is by testing. I really do not know a lot of strategys I will admit that. I felt that information to new players was more important than me studying a lot of strategies and they might not understand whats going if I did that. Also he said I allowed posters to hijack my AAR, I disagree with that, I want good players to hijack and make comments and help me NP. I will make one comment about that, thank god I started any kind of an AAR good bad or indifferent it got good players like Orm and composser to start AAR's. I was ready to invade Norway and then Belgium soon after that but with the comment made by Extraneous I have now starting to have doubts about my abiulity to do any kind of an AAR let alone a good one. His comments can be found in the Poland AAR. My conclusion is this, do most of the posters here want me to continue or not, if I do not hear from posters I will desist from all further AAR's and just maybe I can start sleeping better at night and stop getting all nervous about getting screens in order that eats up many hours of my leisure time. But where here to help each other and that is my belief. Choice is yours let me know please. Bo

I don't care if you call it an AAR or whatever, the name is not of the slightest importance. You are showing people some important features, screenshots, concepts etc, of this complex game and not only can I not see what harm it does, I actually think it helps generate interest and questions.

Bo, I don´t know anything about WiF. But as I have this slight feeling, that I might like this game, I´m looking for some basic and introducing information about MWiF. For me you did just that. I found your AAR very helpful, and also enjoyable to read. Therefore I would like to see you to continue with your efforts, to explain the game basics to newcomers from a newcomers perspective. Thank you Sir.

Bo, Definitely continue. Strategy or tactics really have but small importance in this context, the exposure of the game and all it's intricasies is neeeded and that is exactly what you have been accomplishing. That you are not an experienced WiF player is just what many of the audience here like to see since they may not be familiar at all with the game. What you are showing them is that they can have a lot of fun playing and learnning the game at the same time. I am a longtime WiF player and I really enjoy our AAR. Great work. Lars

I have no problem with constructive criticism, I am not pouting, there is nothing to pout about, oh all right just a little pout no big deal. But what makes a good AAR. I could change the name to "showing different possibilities in combat" I will try anything to inform people of this great game. I believe that pictures speak a lot of words they have always helped me understand something. I am not in Orm's and compossers class they know the game way better than I do. Bo

I enjoy reading all the AAR's it keeps me entertained and informed on what to expect while I wait for the game (is it Nov 7th yet!?).

You just did a very difficult write up on many of the features of the MWiF and now you worried about doing a AAR? [sm=00000023.gif] Your only problem is you tried to do to much with one thread. You have the most difficult opponent you will ever face against you playing MWiF. Yourself. Here is what you do take the Axis side. Then go to the forum an choose a set up for the Allies. There are plenty out there to choose from. Now the hardest part try and play an unbiased game against yourself. While you may be a NEWB at WiF. I will not accept you as a NEWB at MWiF you know your way around the interface to well. Tell us the scenario you choose, your options, why you set up this way, the weather, your plans behind your decisions, and ANYTHING else you think may be useful for someone to follow you through your actions. Select a zoom that lets us see the value of the units while using the least amount of screenshots. Show your set up using the least amount of screenshots. Give the most amount of information you can about the impulses (activity selected and etc.) while showing the combats using the least amount of screenshots. Will the higher zoom rates still show the flames and arrows of the attacks [&:] Screenshots are eye candy your information will allow us to follow your views and ideas. Take the good with the bad from a critique an strive to do better with your AAR.

For gods sake Extraneous I am having enough trouble doing what I am doing now if I did the allies with all their screens I would need a new hard drive, and by the time "I GET IT" [how to do AAR's] the game will be out, let me go back and read my annual 98 and maybe I can do better. Does anyone want the annual 98? Bo

Bo, I think you should continue. Perhaps a name change to what you are doing would help your mental outlook on it. Instead of calling it an AAR, how about you call it a demo? That seems to be the thrust you are looking to make; demo the features, screens and show the game over any concern with strategy, etc. If it is a demo and not an AAR, then no need for posters to look at the strategy of what is going on, rather questions about how things work, etc may be more appropriate. Hope this helps.

I completely agree with these sentiments from Warspite, but it's your decision what and how much to post and what to call it. Do what you are comfortable doing, don't feel like you are being forced into any agenda.

Here is an example of the zoom level you should use: Decline and Fall AAR v2~ composer99 post #21. Detail is not necessary to show set ups just what the value of the units are. First: Show the finished set up for both sides using one screenshot each for (only show what is important note the rest): A) France and Great Britain B) Germany and Poland C) Italy and the Mediterranean (If you want to) D) and the USSR. For the readers: Everyone that has been in the beta probably knows what a pain it is to crop (cut to size) the screenshots to be uploaded in the excepted format and space allowed. This is why I keep stressing minimize your number of screenshots but maximize your textual information. Set up for the USA can be notated nothing is likely to happen there. Next: In the beginning all you and your readers are going to be interested in is the combat in Poland. Show a screenshot at the end of the impulse with the results where combat occurred. Any other moves can be notated but are not needed to be shown. Example: Sept/Oct 1939 Impulse 2 Ahead of invading USSR units Poland has it's 2 Air units interned in Latvia. The Polish pilots will be repatriated to the CW on the next turn. The CW and France DoW Germany. A CW LND from Great Britain performs a surprise port attack on Settin, Germany sinking a TRS. CW Carrier forces perform a surprise port attack on Kiel, Germany sinking the CA Graf Spee. While the War rages in Poland Churchill has a sudden craving for hummus and transports a 7-3 INF to Suez, Egypt. The USSR annexes Eastern Poland. You don't need to show these actions you just need to notate them. If you want you could show a strategic map to show convoy lines if you think it is absolutely necessary. Once you have uploaded and posted a screenshot delete it from your computer. You've saved on the forums if you need it again. You've got a interested group now walk us through your game. Bo I'm just trying to help you out. You have a daunting task but you can do it. Sure send me a copy of the annual 98.
