After tiring of exploring the edge cases of the AI I'm now trying to get a handle on how scoring is computed. Obvious inputs are income, population size, number of techs, and number of ships, but I'm having a little trouble figuring out the negative modifiers. I've seen the score line graph show dips during long periods of quiet expansion but cannot positively find the source. Might be loss of income due to pirates, might be loss of cash reserves due to overspending. For sure it wasn't due to anything clear-cut such as a loss of ships and/or population. Can we have any insight on how to maximize scoring? D.
