decaf -> [ADDED B523] Tomahawk Block IV MMT (10/5/2013 8:42:37 PM)

Dear Sirs,

I request 2 new database weapons:

RGM-109I Tomahawk Blk IV MMT
UGM-109I Tomahawk Blk IV MMT

RGM-109I would be a variant to the entry for:
586 -- RGM-109E Tomahawk Blk IV TACTOM

and UGM-109I would be a variant to the entries:
377 -- UGM-109E Tomahawk Blk IV TACTOM
810 -- UGM-109E Tomahawk Blk IV TACTOM

MMT refers to the "Multimission Tomahawk" update
due to be deployed in 2015. I am extrapolating the
designation as "109I" from the most recent "109H".

I request SENSORS/EW be updated for RGM-109I and UGM-109I:

add "1x Passive Radar Seeker"
add "1x Active Radar Seeker"
in both cases, the seeker stats could be copied from #229
(#229 -- RGM-109B Tomahawk TASM)

I request PROPERTIES be updated for RGM-109I and UGM-109I:

add "Home On Jam (HOJ)"
add "Search Pattern"
add "Bearing-Only Launch (BOL)"

I request VALID TARGETS be updated for RGM-109I and UGM-109I:

add "Surface Ships" to RGM-109I and UGM-109I

Rationale and Sources:

Please note the 2012 YouTube video by Ratheon

"Tomahawk Maritime Interdiction"

Watch the video (it is short) and see Ratheon advertise the
ability to blow away a cruiser and do so "optimally" and in
a synchronized fashion.

I had thought the MMT (Multimission Tomahawk) capability was
inherent to all Block IV versions. But this is not the case.
At informationdissemination dot net, their August 18, 2012
article "Back to the Future -- Targeting the New TASM" states:

"NAVAIR has awarded Raytheon a contract to update the BLK IV
Tactical Tomahawk with maritime interdiction capabilities
to be deployed by 2015."

and

"... the new "TASM" will use advanced targeting features
including ESM and an Active Electronically Scanned Millimeter
wave radar seeker."

I am assuming that TACTOM's will not be converted into MMT.
Rather, MMT's will be new buys. I am assuming the MMT's will
get new designations. And, I am assuming they will also
deploy an undersea launched version.

decaf -> RE: DB ADD REQUEST: Tomahawk Block IV MMT (10/8/2013 5:06:09 PM)

Bumping this up for Ragnar and the database krew.
It got buried over the weekend.

This is an important weapon. It will prove ASM attack
capability to a number of platforms, in including the
Arleigh Burke. See it in 2015. Check the Ratheon video.

ComDev -> RE: DB ADD REQUEST: Tomahawk Block IV MMT (10/9/2013 6:48:51 AM)

Hi Java,

Would be great if you could post more links to details on this new system, thanks!

decaf -> RE: DB ADD REQUEST: Tomahawk Block IV MMT (10/9/2013 3:09:02 PM)

Dear Ragnar,

Dang! I'd post the hotlinks, but I only am a newbie, and
Matrix will not let me post links until I get 10 posts and
wait a week (!).

So, I'll post the web addresses as best a Matrix mail will
allow. And, I'll do one post per link, to bump up my
post count. And, after a week expires, I will put nice
shiny hotlinks in another e-mail.

Thanks for your attention. [:)]

More messages on the way ......

decaf -> RE: DB ADD REQUEST: Tomahawk Block IV MMT (10/9/2013 3:10:13 PM)

Dear Ragnar,

This is the "link" to the Ratheon video/animation
that describes killing a cruiser with MMT, and with
use of active millimeter wave and passive ESM sensors:

You can send me the links in a private message, and then I'll post them.

decaf -> RE: DB ADD REQUEST: Tomahawk Block IV MMT (10/9/2013 3:10:55 PM)

Dear Ragnar,

This is the "link" to the web site that announced
that NAVAIR did a contract with Ratheon for
MMT deployment in 2015.

(This is the reason I dropped my original request
and altered it to a new version with ASM capability.)

Dear Ragnar,

Wooooo Hooo...... 11 posts!
After a week, I can put in a link! [;)]

I promise, as soon as I can put proper hotlinks
in my Matrix mail, I will.

Getting a USA Honest-To-God ASM capability in the
VLS launchers is a big deal (IMHO).

Thanks again for your attention.

decaf -> RE: DB ADD REQUEST: Tomahawk Block IV MMT (10/9/2013 3:14:05 PM)

Thanks, Terminus, for your kind offer.

Actually, this gives me a change to bump up my message
count from raw newbie to apprentice newbie (ha ha).

If you like, feel free to put real live hotlinks in
this thread.

Thanks much,

jf

Always nice to have as many different weapons as possible. But got to wonder if the Navy will use Antiship Tomahawks with the LRASM-A (Long Range Anti Ship Missile) possibly coming into service within the next 2 years.
Thanks for everyone's hard work on the game and to improve the game!

ComDev -> RE: DB ADD REQUEST: Tomahawk Block IV MMT (10/9/2013 7:45:04 PM)

Thanks! Have registered a feature request for this one.

Slightly hesitant though, as new Tomahawk versions have a bad tendency of getting cancelled or delayed hehe [8D]

Please post up more info if you can find any, the more the better!

decaf -> RE: DB ADD REQUEST: Tomahawk Block IV MMT (10/9/2013 9:35:49 PM)

Hi, jtoatoktoe!

I know what you mean -- but here's my take on it.
Lockheed sells the LRASM-A.
Ratheon sells the Tomahawk Blk IV.
Ratheon is doing some "creative marketing" by adding the
ASM (MMT) capability to the Tomahawk.
As a force commander, you can load up your cells with weapons
that have a dual Anti-Ship/Anti-Land -- gives you flexibility.
Of course, we will have to see, ultimately, what the actual
performance of these weapons will be -- to guess future loadouts.

Could be the ultimate "duel of the missile sensors"...

Best wishes [:)]

Primarchx -> RE: DB ADD REQUEST: Tomahawk Block IV MMT (10/9/2013 9:37:14 PM)

My thoughts, too. Once I've seen an indication that they've actually been ordered with that functionality is when I'll believe it.

Thanks, Ragnar!

Will keep a weather eye peeled for Tomahawk info. [8D]

(By the way, you probably saw in the video that the MMT
allows for TV cameras. Hence, target validation and
post-strike battle damage assessment. Also, the missiles
can be networked to provide a coordinated, simultaneous
strike on a moving target. But, that's a bit beyond the
current Command model.)

TonyAAA -> RE: DB ADD REQUEST: Tomahawk Block IV MMT (10/9/2013 9:54:15 PM)

I think a single Ohio SSGN armed with 154 of these monsters would have a rather "unbalancing" effect on the game ;)

Still, if they do/will exist with that capability, then they should be modeled in the sim.

A successful test of their new ESM module.

Curious, has Raytheon ever publicized a failure?

smudge56 -> RE: DB ADD REQUEST: Tomahawk Block IV MMT (10/10/2013 4:50:38 PM)

That would be a devastating platform.

Dear Ragnar,

I can now post Honest-To-God links! Yay!!

and with use of active millimeter wave and passive ESM sensors:

Also, in a separate thread, I posed a link about the LRASM-A.
Refers to the problematic nature of the DARPA development track.

That show cover all my old links.

Thanks much for listening.
