brian heard -> Nice game (also data file editing-Dev) (10/18/2013 6:42:39 PM)

I took the plunge and bought the game and it is very professional and well done.
I still wish there was a way we could give direct fire units specific targets (like you can with artillery)... I know it's not realistic but it is fun.

One question I was trying to modify the OOB and create a new scenario and it seems like none of my changes are showing up that I made in the excel spreadsheet. I even created a new spreadsheet (RDF for the USA) and it does not show up as OOB or side in the scenario editor.

Any ideas?
thanks!

Thanks for jumping on board. As for the OOB , if you mod the USER datafile and then load it as the Player 1 selection in the scenario editor it should show up. I hope to release the Modding Guide early next week and that will help with the data level modding.

if you have other questions, please place them in the modding sub forum so we can show others the info. Thanks.

k, will post in the mods forum.. but the changes do not work in the OOB. I just tried making an M-1 unit with 14 tanks and it did not show up. not sure if there is re-cache or something.

I just move this post up there. Are you loading a scenario in the editor? You should bypass loading to start new.

brian heard -> OOB excel load --- was .. Nice game (10/18/2013 9:06:35 PM)

thanks for quick response. not not loading an existing scenario just trying to start a new one from scratch (with existing maps etc..) All I did was copy a row in the excel spreadsheet and change the name of the unit to test tank 14 and changed tank*5 to tank*14.

I load but it seems to be almost using a cache version..

I was missing on other thing for the name to show up. In your new file open the National tab and go down to row 54 the Country Name and put in your unique "file" name. Like RDF. Then load up the scenario editor. I would also strongly suggest if you save a scenario and go out to the main menu to actually exit the game and restart if you want to play or do another scenario to make 100% sure the memory clears. WE are still tracking down a few cases where it is not doing that if you jump to the Main Menu and right back in.

thanks that did the trick!!

So can we make a copy of the Soviet file (call it East German for example) and mod it and load it in the 2nd slot, while using the modified american RDF in slot 1?

Yes, as long as you set the national side field to red it will show as player 2.
