Any ideas?
Fresh new DW & all expansions install, plus latest Shadows patch.
Funny how this "shadow star" bug only started happening in Shadows [:'(]
Never saw anything like this in any previous expansions or versions of the game.

Hello Baleur [:)]

What am I looking at? (besides a sun / star), what is the problem? If your using G.E.M then the planet shadows got an update somewhere in the thread due to the engine changes in Shadows, I am not to sure where though as I do not use it.

I guess the issue could be shadows on a star. The top part looks like it has turned itself off :)

The fact that the star is completely darkened..
As if a 50% transparent black .png is covering it.
This is how they looked before the Shadows expansion. You know, actually bright like stars.

After some more testing (making the star disc png completely a white circle) it appears that there always remains a dark gray outline around the star, outside of the boundary of the star_disc.png [:-]

Definetly someone ballsed up the stars for this expansions.
It's like the star disc png is too small a radious so it does not compeletely cover the dark gray circle beneath it (which i suppose is there to show the intended radious of stars before the graphic is loaded in on top of it?)

Could we get some dev feedback on this?

Just a question to you ?
What would happen if you would see the real shine of a sun?
If it would be the real sunstrenght you would have a hole at your monitor.
And otherwhile with just monitorstrenght you shouldn't see much then a coloured very bright circle.
Your current view is just like an observatory show it, with a very strong filter bevor the view so you don't get blind. Maybe the filter is a bit to strong and it looks a bit darker, but IMO i don't care.

Baleur -> RE: Bug - Dark star graphics (10/20/2013 11:52:27 PM)

I don't get why people are arguing with me about this, lol.
It's clearly a bug, something wrong with the alpha blending in this update.
I'm showing you comparison screenshots of how it looked before, and how it looks in the Shadows expansion.

Then people start talking about mods and how the sun light is in real life..
*tears hair out*

It's just a bug people, there is a dark gray outline around the star graphics that's not supposed to be there, it's supposed to look brighter than that.
*wishes for a reply from someone that knows anything about 2d graphics* [&o]

Features of Shadow's
*New and Improved higher performance Graphics Engine

New engine means new way how some objects looks like. Thats why you see a difference between Legends and Shadow at the sun's.
But if you are lucky you get an answer from a dev.

I have noticed the same behavior but only at planets with the planetary shield. hmmmmmmm
Cheers [sm=00000436.gif]

Thanks for the report. The appearance of stars has been improved in the next update.
