Boomer78 -> RE: What gives SLAAK (10/20/2013 9:19:25 AM)

When I first joined the forum, I thought Slaak might be a kindred spirit to myself. But after learning his tactics, I'm of the opinion he's just an aggressive troll and intends only to rile people up. There's no conversing with him. He simply blasts links and pictures at you and then runs away. That's NOT how you want to win people over to your point of view. On top of that he only reinforces the general opinion of conspiracy types being anti-social lunatics who scream at you rather than have rational discussions. This situation reminds me of those survivalist shows on tv. They always pick the slightly deranged christian family that are hiding out in an abandoned missile silo while wearing hazmat suits and throwing holy water on everything. There are millions of Americans right now (myself included) who are concerned about what tomorrow will bring, and are trying to plan accordingly. Wearing biohazard suits and screaming religious scripture at people isn't really the best way to prepare for bad times. Those shows are intended to make people think that anyone who prepares for bad times is a religious nutjob. On that same point, Slaakman gets people thinking that they are better off never going into those dark conspiracy theory waters. They might end up like him. I don't think Slaakman is doing good work here. He's unified others here against him, if only because of his actions rather than his ideas. He gives alternative thinking a bad name, and the antagonistic nature of his relations here is only going to end in the wailing of women and the gnashing of teeth. ...but I still don't think he should be banned. He should be humored and loved. And if he refuses to act like an adult and have grown up conversations, then he should be loved as one loves a pet...a fluffy little terrier or a big lovable mastiff.
