Could someone please help me to understand, in as much detail as you care to go into, the "game" menu, "Side Doctrine + ROE"? For instance, when I begin a new scenario I go thru and set all my preferences like map settings, Emcon, etc., before I un-pause the game. So let's say I select the aforementioned menu and set Emcon "all passive" and check the "inherit from parent" box. So I start the scenario, and sometime later I realize my CV is radiating all it's radars! This was a big no-no in most beginning situations against Soviets when I was in the Navy. The idea was to hide your big boys as long as possible, because up in the GIUK gap, the Soviets could rain down massive airborne ASM destruction upon thy ass, and sink your Carrier without you ever having seen them. (That's why we invented the Phoenix missile, folks). Anyway, I guess I'm confused.

sneekyzeke, there is bug (a serious one, in my opinion, because like you, I don't like to radiate and give away my position to the enemy if I don't have to) within the side EMCON settings. If you set your radars to passive and create a AAW patrol mission, it automatically reverts to active. Same thing for sonars when you create a mine clearing mission.

The big problem is that some missions have pre-selected, standards EMCON settings that come with that "Inherit from parent" box checked. So if your side radar EMCON is passive and your mission is (by default) active and says that it is inherited, the system automatically changes all the side EMCON to active to make things sense.

I think it could be easily fixed by making all missions follows the side EMCON you, as the player, have selected, or it least to uncheck that "Inherit from parent" box from missions EMCON.

Please, check the thread I have just created, AAW patrol mission problems.

Hope I could helped and that the developers fiz this on the next patch!
