So, tried my hand at the Khark Island mission.

I tried to set up a patrol with my MiG-23s, but found it was easier to just micro them around. The MiGs did their job well. For only two losses, they shot down eight Iranian planes and performed the task of keeping them off the Fitters.

The Fitters themselves didn't do so well. Flying into a storm of Hawks as they approached the terminal, four of the six Fitters were lost, and the ones that managed to release their bombs only managed to take out a single storage tank.

Final score was 300: Average.

How have other players fared with this scenario?

Try to use the Floggers as HAWK-bait so that the Fitters have an easier time going in.

Fly nap of the earth the whole way and you will have complete surprise - no enemy planes (except on the way back).

Problem is the I-Hawk's. Pop the floggers up at edge of range (25km??) and dance around to waste them. Remember to micro the fitters, if you fly at minimum altitude they can't drop their bombs. So pop up to 150 meters or so 5km from target.

G, I must practice. I just gave this a try and failed completely. Launched a pair of Floggers, had them chase what turned out to be a pair of Tigers but they lost, both were shot down with guns after failing to score missile kills. Brought the remaining 4 on station to provide AIR cover over the sea as I had my 3 pair of Fitters fly low and pop up to 600 m some 9nm from the target. Lost all 6 Fitters to the Hawks and AA. Lost an additional two Floggers in an air battle. Managed to drop two Tigers and destroy 2 Tanks. Disaster... [:@]

The Tigers will take out your 23's with ease. Don't tangle with them.

You will need to manually task the fitters, and micro manage their attack pop up.

I would be cursing command for not providing enough resources to accomplish the intended task! And stomping heads on Intel for being blind to the task.
