March 11th 1944 A day for firing blanks. Allied bombardment (?) force moving closer to Babeldoab. In the morning 20 B7A2 strike (as dive bombers, Navb skill 70+) attack the Fletchers and in the afternoon 12, no CAP, zero hits scored[:@], 6 planes lost. I need kamikazes! Fletchers bombard Rota, the camouflage works a treat and they do zero damage[;)]. Allies attack at Guam. It does not go well, for them[:)]: quote:

My destroyed unit was a tiny fragment of a Nav Gd unit lifted from Ponape. Not quite the result I hoped for but nearly 10% of his troops killed and no damage to the forts[8D]. Looks like I may have lost about 1000 supply in the defense so I'm likely to run out of supply in about a couple of months. Apart from two naval bombardments he made very little attempt to disrupt my troops. VP tally shows me picking up 25 VP points, that is 75 devices, so he may have taken more losses than is reported. No night strike at Miri. P-38J, F6F-3, Spitfire VIII sweep Miri and Brunei. 63 planes lost for 40 downed. A group of 9 PB4Y-1 also turn up and one of them is downed and one oil well knocked out. About 100 fuel transfer from Tarakan to Brunei. Last of the air mobile defenders from Samarinda are lifted from Melak. The remainder have a long walk through mountains and jungle to Miri and I am not expecting many to make it. They need to make another 130 km before they can even start to draw supply from Miri[8|]. Allied convoy seems to be off-loading at Madras. Recon reports only 5 fighters there so I may risk a strike.
